It seems the only big exclusive 360 ever gets is a new Halo game over and over again.

Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo ODST

That's 6 console Halo titles in the last two gens.

Is Halo becoming the new Mario of milked franchises? And are you getting tired of Halo and wanting some new first party IP's?

Meanwhile, Sony is delivering an awesome breadth of new IPs this gen and established franchises alike.

No. It is just that the next games in the franchises are getting worse and worse instead of better and better. They aren't milking the franchise at all.

It hasn't been milked yet. It's slowly getting there, but not quite.

I'm also looking forward to Splinter Cell, Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2 and Crackdown 2 along with ODST/Reach. Only 1 new IP there but that's a very good lineup.

How is that the same as mario when mario has about 150 titles? Because they make a sequel every 2 years and one rts spin-off doesn't mean that it is anything like mario. R&C has more games. God of war series (which came out 5 years ago) is having more games on average than halo. This isn't milkage.

That's not milkage. You want milkage? Try CoD4. All the Bungie Halos have been high quality. They're not my thing either, but it's absurd to think that they are being milked. If that's milkage, than the metal gear franchise is milked too.

No, Halo can't reach Mario status. Halo has the same gameplay over and over, I would definitely compare it to like a Sonic.

Do you mean COD instead of COD 4 ? COD 4 is one game that has one sequel on the way. If you mean the COD series then I only agree for consoles. PC didn't get that crap that went onto PS2 like Big Red One.

Six games in ten years isn't exactly milkage. If Halo is milked, then so is MGS and COD.

Console Zelda games in the last two generations: Windwaker, LTTP, Four Swords, Links crossbow training

We are getting Halo games at a faster rate than Zelda.

No problem, 4 is my favorite as well. I still stand that it's only the consoles that have gotten milked. PC only has COD COD 2, COD 4, COD WAW, and I believe 3 or 4 expansions.

Well we did see a spartan in DOA 4 and then went all RTS on my ass in Halo Wars remember...

But still, the halo franchise is not being milked. All the games so far have been quality, and I expect nothing less of future iterations.

If MS had an extra portable platform around to make Halo games on they would as well. You can only compare the consoles.

Remind me again, how many Killzone games there are in total? Or many Gran Turismo? Or Metal Gear games on the Playstation platform? Halo's eight years old. In eight years, we've had three full titles, one expansion, and one spin-off by another highly respectable developer. Doesn't seem "milked" at all. Actually, it seems like MS is being very picky with how they treat the franchise, as they should be.

No. You have to include all the games. Besides, there was a Halo DS game, but it was cancelled. They can make Halo portable games, they just choose not to.

Every successful franchise that's had more than the original amount of planned games is 'milked', sure, but people need to realise that 'milkage' isn't always the worst thing in the world. Halo, Mario, Zelda, Metal Gear Solid; they're all 'milked' franchises, but who cares? They're all still extremely good games.

Of course milking can go too far, if companies are producing multiple titles with little to no gameplay differences that are basically just selling on the name, then I would agree, milking=bad. Just look at Tony Hawk (before the new one), there's a good example of what I mean.

We are getting Halo games at a faster rate than Zelda.

Phantom Hourglass and the GC N64 Collection. And yes, those Zeldas count because you have to pay money to get them. And I would call rereleasing a disc full of old games milking (Zelda) moreso than I would call making an entire new game (halo) milking.

No. It is just that the next games in the franchises are getting worse and worse instead of better and better. They aren't milking the franchise at all.

Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo ODST, Halo Reach

That's six different Halo games in two generations with very few other first party IPs

That's pretty much the definition of milkage imo

No it isn't milkage. Halo to Halo 2 was three years, Halo 2 to Halo 3 was three years, and Halo 3 to Halo: Reach will be three years. Halo 3: ODST is just an expansion pack, and Halo Wars took three years to make (announced in 2006). That is not milkage.

Also if you look at it like this:

Six Halo Games in 8 years is pretty good. Until I see Master Chief Party 1 - 8, Master Chief Tennis, Master Chief Soccer, Master Chief Baseball, Master Chief Cart, Master Chief Basketball ect. Then we can claim milkage.

[QUOTE="pyromaniac223"] It's still a zelda game. I like how you conveniently classify "milking" as home console games so "perfect" series like MGS get left out.Avian005

If MS had an extra portable platform around to make Halo games on they would as well. You can only compare the consoles.

No. You have to include all the games. Besides, there was a Halo DS game, but it was cancelled. They can make Halo portable games, they just choose not to.

Halo DS game? The reasons that didnt happen is because MS doesnt want their bread and butter franchise on a competing platform. You're reaching.

It will never be 'milked' like the Mario IP is. But by IP standards it will - it is popular, so its inevitable. Titles like Halo Wars enforce this notion strongly. Though there are other franchises like Call of Duty, that shovel sequel after sequel out, which are worse in quite a few respects.

if they didn't want the game on the DS then why does it look like the game was near completed?
