Is Halo better than Third person cinematic games?

Hello friends

When Halo was released. it was being criticize for having 2 weapon limits and regen health (Halo 1 has partial regen health while others have complete) and it was true that compare to other PC FPS, it was pale in comparision. but recently played Halo CE remaster on PC. it never actually either hold our hands nor it actually interrupt me for cutscene over and over again to the point i realize that Halo is much better than third person movie games. or rather cinematic FPS like COD, wolfenstein, bioshock infinite and others.

Compare to cinematic third person games like tomb raider, uncharted or terrible cover shooter like gears. Halo is masterpiece compare to those games imo. atleast Halo has too much gameplay.

of course it cant be compare to Half life or Doom etc.

so my friends, what do you think? lets discuss

I disagree. It holds its place with Doom or Half Life but thats besides the point.

Is it better than 3rd person cinematic games? That depends on the game and the Halo installment in question.

Halo was absolutely phenomenal. I didn't know that there was a complaint about the 2 weapon limit. I thought I remembered it being considered a cool shift because it made the game more "realistic" and challenging.

Halo guy is basically Doom guy but less of badass.

Not really. John 117 has a fleshed out backstory and character. Doom guy doesnt. Spare me that bullshit.

Personally, I think Halo is much better than Half Life. Maybe not EXACTLY on the level of Doom but it's almost there. In a way, Mast Chief is basically a modern Doomed Marine.

I guess Gordon Freeman was like that too but at least the supporting characters around him view him more as just a hero.

Never cared for Halo, I loved the character, the world and story/lore of the first game, but the campaign was garbage IMO. But the game was more about the MP side of things and that's were most peoples love for the game lies.

So for me personally, I'll take a great cinematic game over halo any day of the week, just because its more to my liking. Like God of War (2018), just got the platinum trophy for it and its now one of the best games Ive played in the last few gens.

Doom slayer doesnot need squad. he is one man war against demonic forces.

Here master chief is hero but he has entire squad as back. sometimes fight along with them.

MP in Halo absolutely suck i cant understand why its popular in first place. Halo is about war between humans and alien forces with master chief is hero who save.

Master Chief only had a squad in Halo 5 though. From Halo 1-4, he was by himself 95% of the time.

I love Halo but I don’t think that I’d say it’s better the a whole genre of games. I do enjoy it more then Half-Life and Doom though. I love both the single player campaign and online multiplayer of the Halo games, they are both terrifically fun stuff.

That is a blanket question that I cannot answer. There are some Halo games which are better than some 3rd person games while some 3rd person games are better than some Halo games.

my point is not towards every 3rd person game but towards cinematic third person game as games like Mafia and Max Payne easily blow Halo out of water while Halo blow Gears, Tomb raider and uncharted out of water.

I don’t think so. I could never really get into the Halo series. I beat the first two games and stopped somewhere in the third. Just can’t take the series seriously. The enemies are ridiculous and couldn’t care less about the good guys.

Yeah I like his story, in addition to the other Spartans.

Dr. Whatever-her-name (Halsey?) is also a neat character, sort of the "mother" to these super soldiers, but also a little evil as well. Essentially kidnapping children, replacing them with clones that would die young, then experimenting on them to the point most would die.

Also Cortana is a great character.

No. For example, Barbie's Horse Adventure is third person and easily dumps all over all the garbage FPS games you like, it is objectively better. Halo, more like Failo.

Depends on what you prefer. Presentation or gameplay? I tend to enjoy cutscenes just because I like having breaks from the gameplay.

Generally I like the Halo games better than most cinematic third-person games. I tend to lean more towards games with more gameplay than games with a heavily cinematic presentation.

Halo has cutscenes, but a lot of the story is sort of told on the fly as you are engaging in skirmishes or wandering through ancient buildings. Between Cortana in your helmet and other marines or allies communicating with you, you get alerted to most events on the go.

I could really talk all day about what makes Halo campaigns and multiplayer great. But that's my opinion. And I am a few games behind in the series, so I realize a lot of my biggest Halo moments came from CE, 3 and ODST.

and thats why series become bad after first game. Halo 1 was SP game. then 2 to onwards focus on MP.

The series was more successful and had better games when the glorious MP was running the show and promptly became compromised when the mp got worse, and they added a studio way too into the extended universe and wanting to tell a story.

Once again Champ has shown that gameplay n multiplayer drive the medium forward, and single player only people are pathetic social rejects without friends and handcuff the greater potential of the medium, because they couldn't be bothered to get into a real story telling medium.

One day we shall all thank Champ, wonderful saint of a human being for his wisdom n sacrifice.

MDK can be completed in 2 hours, best TPS.

Then explain me why Doomguy... I mean Masterchief is icon of Halo series? why a war between Humanity and Aliens/Convenant forces define the series?

many people consider original best one because it was SP game, although i do find its repetitive copy paste design but then series just become popular on MP. and popularity =/= quality.

Because he's the guy on the box. Mother fuckers know who Ronald McDonald is, but the cartoon isn't more important than their shitty burgers that they can make in under a minute. Likewise the multiplayer is the fun, but you social reject losers need a mascot, an identifier or yah wouldn't know if you are purchasing the correct thing. Mouth droolers that you are, you need stuff like that.

MDK is mediocre cartoonish third person game. Mafia 1 the best TPS. along with Max payne.

Even the Digital Foundry man refers to with with awe and reverence as a "masterpiece", and these guys are gaming experts.

Max Payne is good though, realizing he is in a video game is such profound.

MDK does suck. An absolute example of Cup will gas up any piece of shit, because he was challenged as a toddler as couldn't find a youtube video of anyone finding a cheese strat, since the whole game can just be beating by circle strafing. Don't worry nothing will hit you, none of the enemies can actually deal with a circle strafe and they couldn't bothered to add any interesting enemy mixes to make up for that.

- I'm confused. So then are you saying that Master Chief is NOT like Doom Guy or that he is? Because I've been saying that he is. Besides, the Marines deployed in levels are pretty static. They'll fight the Covenant too but they don't actually follow you on your missions.
