I'm not some review zealot or anything... I understand that reviews are opinion and ultimatly they mean nothing other than a recomendation. Same with awards, they're just media fodder to make something glorified. That said, I do put a lot of respect in what GS has to say about games, but lately, I just can't take them seriously, It's like they're trying to be the tough kids on the block... They want to have the "holier than thou" approach, like they have some mythical insight in to games that the other media outlets don't have. It's laughable... Anyway, I just think that a lot of their recent reviews have been way off, R+C, Mass Effect...etc. and I find it hard to get fired up in System Wars over their reviews anymore....

Just got this game for christmas. AAA title if I ever played one. And I admit HS, Warhawk, and R&C are not AAA but Uncharted is head and shoulders above those titles.

yeh same ... really an amazing game ... its the first game i've played where i actually feel like i'm in a movie of some sorts.

It is still horrible baised, IMHO. Like they said, Uncharted should've been AAA, so should of Corruption and TP. Perfect Dark should not of been. IMHO, Gamespot is baised against the WIi and PS3, yet notice how a Wii game won GOTY... SOme food for thought right there.

Not true... I think it was the moment that I realized that what we argue and fight for in this forum is based large in part to putting heavy stock that GS is the end all be all of video games... (don't say this isn't true because our collective agreement to not accept other reviews states otherwise) Now that we know advertising dollars can affect the review coupled with a few "tough guy" geeks reviewing games, it just makes for a bad soup... I can't take them serious...
I use to give their review a lot of heavy weight in my decision over buying a game or not...But lately, their reviews are taken a dive for the worst. I still use it for the much older reviews like for games in 2005 and before... but their new ratings system is a mess.
It is not really the score that bothers me but what they says in the comments to justify the score that has me scratching my head. Calling a game easy or hard is not a way to justify a score. If that is the case, how come NG got such a high score. And I know that game is probably one of the harder games I have come across and that game is an excellent.
I use www.gametab.com for my news now. And reviews, well, GS reviews has little weight on whether I buy it or not.
Yes the Gerstmann incident shows that GameSpot is heavily influenced by money. Given the depth's of Microsoft's pockets it's not hard to believe that there is some offical 'don't give any PS3 game AAA' crap going on.
i must say i hate the new ratings.. why restrict them to .5? i loved how a game was as good as something else... but it had that little spark of something to get it a .1 higher...
