is it fair to say we've seen some role reversal this gen from the 360 & PS3?

with the 360 being the console thats a safe buy, you'll get your fair share of multi-plats with a good healthy amout of exclusives - just like the ps2. then there the (alleged) powerhouse of the ps3 with all these features and a few exclusive niche games, whilst getting those multi-plats - like the 360.

That just not true. You have to be bias to even think this. 360 is still the best in shooters, and now best in RPGs.

however the PS3 seems to have an impressive array upcoming shooters more so than the 360 from my point of view

but yes the 360 is still the shooter king due to its back catalog, hopefully epic and bungie will be able to help the 360 hold this tittle

wrong, the wii is the new ps2. The 360 will never break 35 million units.

one thing that made the ps2 unique was it was the only system to get that one game and its first party was good. not seeing that with the 360, ms is doing a good job buying sony exclusives but in the long run will it help. for example ms had dlc and launched on the same day as sony. they sold more software but not hardware. software was obvious because the 360 has more systems. ff13 can be bought on bought consoles so now it depends on which console has the best first party a consumer likes. i would agree if ms was actually stealing games from the ps3 but all its doing is sharing with the ps3.sireclaborn

he means from a games perspective, i dont personally agree with this but it is the closest thing we have to a current gen PS2 right now

That's pretty true. Sony still claims that the PS2 is still running strong.

I honestly dont think that the 360 is going to sell as much as the ps2, but gamewise it's the ps2 of this gen.

Xbox360 has just as many if not more good fps games than the ps3. The ps3 only has cod4. XBox has this along with Halo 3. And its not like the xbox60 is going not get any more fps games they are going to continue to come in. Meanwhile the ps2 didn't have a single good fps game other than time splitters.

To me it isn't a matter of which is better, but which company historically has been more reliable for me;

I've gone through 2 PS1 consoles because of the laser design, and 3 PS2 consoles for the same problen. Sony lost me as a customer for good. There simply is no excuse for the shoddy quality of their consoles.

I have a Sega CDX that is 15 years old, and never had a problem with hardware quality, my Dreamcast is 8 years old and plays flawlessly, my Gamecube never made as much as a hardware hiccup, my Xbox never gave me a problem until I owned it for 6 years, and my Wii has been fine. And I baby all of my consoles.

I don't care that Xbox 360 had a red ring of death; they have addressed the issue, offered extended warranties, and revised the chipset to cut down on heat.

To me, Sony dropped the ball when they stuck it to the owners of their consoles by waiting 5 years to change a faulty design (PS2 console).

I'll take my hard earned gaming dollars elseware.

What the hell? People were buying 360 for Halo 3! The game sold over eight million copies, it's the best selling game on the X-box 360. It's ridiculous to beleive no one bought the console for it. I know people who bought console specifically for the game. Hell, Crackdown sold one million copies largely due to it's Halo 3 beta.

And the early buyers of the 360 bassically got it for perfect Dark. It was the game people played till the library began growing.

Both Forza (mainly Forza) and Halo 3 make me more than happy to give my money to Microsoft for their console, among many other reasons.

Any I'm not saying this because I'm a fanboy of Xbox. Honestly, I don't care who thinks what system has the best graphics. I don't care if people don't like the 360. I don't make any money off of the sales, they don't pay my mortgage and bills, and there is far better stuff to be concerned about besides which one "rulz more". Someone buying a PS3 doesn't affect me at all. All because I personally never would buy one (I've been burned too much by quality issues on numerous Sony products, and not just the game consoles), doesn't mean I think someone is dumb for buying one. Games are supposed to be fun, and if people enjoy playing a PS3, if they like the games, I think that's great. Competition makes the overall species stronger, drives down prices for us consumers, and it's a win / win situation.
