Is it just me or do new game's graphics are nothing special anymore..

You guys play games with nice graphics? UC2, Gears of War 2, etc.

Then suddenly a new game comes out with "amazing graphics".

But to you, it seems like it's average now cuz you played all of the games with amazing graphics. This is what I felt while playing Crysis 2..

So much for being the "best graphics" on consoles..

Anyone else feel the same way?

Consoles have peaked. Play a PC game maxed out and you'll be amazed.

Can you suggest some games? The last one I checked was dead space 2... But still.. even if it WAS maxed out.. it doesnt feel that amazing anymore. :(

Yep, because console games have been maxed out.
Games on PC though, look absolutely breath taking, with the kind of tech thats available to develop PC games without limits.

Witcher 2, Battlefield 3, and more are going to be amazing on PC!

consoles have plateaued. a few new PC games are on the way that will push graphics forward. make sure you've got a decent rig though.

Really we need the new wave of consoles now, I feel this gen's consoles have run out of steam.

The mind blowing came 2006 with Gears on console & Crysis for PC in 2007 - after those key titles this gen for visuals, there has been nothing since that has been mind blowing as it's been all small improvements if any at all. :P

I'm wishing for a new powah console in 2012 but perhaps 2013 will have to do.

Who cares? Graphics look great in all of these games.. What we need is better gameplay, replayable content, and longevity.. Its a travesty this gen that games like God of War 3 which sold for $60 can do well with a game time running of 6 to 10 hours with little to no replaybility. sSubZerOo

Its funny how everyone calls MW2 out for its short campaign and completely ignore god of war 3 which only has a short sp campaign.

Well, first off, Crysis 2 isn't best graphics on consoles. That would be up for debate between the big 3 (UC2, GoW3, KZ3). But developers are always coming up with new ways to push the graphical elements further on the ps3. There's quite a few titles coming out this year that maybe pushing the envelope. Have to wait and see. Unfortunately for pcs, they have all this power but the vast majority of their games are mmo's which can't really be judged alongside the graphical powerhouse console titles.TheMoreYouOwn

Well graphics aren't suppose to be the only thing that make the game. Graphics only matter at the begginning of a gen when it comparing it to a previous gen. At this stage no one should be shocked in awed by Xbox 360 and PS3 games on graphics alone, unless they are new to the current systems.

Nah. The devs did a great job handling the engine. Every game has parts in it that don't look as good as other parts (and that could be anything from frame rate, poly count, etc,) but you have to take it as a whole, ps3 devs are really the cream of the crop this gen when it comes to making visually stunning games.

Guess we will have to wait for next gen consoles to be amazed by graphics again. Hopefully Nintendo will solve this problem very soon :)

Metro 2033, Shogun 2, Arma 2: OA, Dawn Of War 2: Chaos Rising / Retribution, Cryostasis with Physx, Mirrors Edge with physx, ect.

Id rather get great new gameplay experiences than amazing visuals. Im not against new consoles though. I just dont think Ill be buying them.

I blame outdated consoles. They have peaked and cut corners to achieve better graphics.

PC has more room to progress. And they will this fall.

But the cell hasn't been taped yet :|

Shogun 2 stunned me recently - 2000 people rushing 2000 people is CRAZY.

Stalker CoP + complete also stunned me, lightning flashes create shadows over the whole environment (DX11 only)

So .. on console, yeah nothing new, on PC the stunning still exists; and more and more as this year goes on with BF3/Crysis 2 Dx11 patch + mods etc.

Technical graphics haven't been amazing since the transition from 2D to 3D, how the developers use that tech to make a beautiful art style and atmosphere is what's amazing.

LOL what? What do you call Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Metro 2033 DX 11, and even Crysis 2 on Hardcore running in Full HD 1080P with 4X FSAA and 16X Anistrophic Filtering on the PC. These games will easily trash UC2, GoW3, KZ3 in graphics.
