I agree....and the endings are lame as hell too....what is this 1995, I get a damn slide show for an ending. for f###s sake there have been cgi endings for the longest time. Dont be lazy boon.
MK never has really been big on cinematic sequences and what not. The story sections are pretty new to the series, so I wouldn't expect them to be top notch.

For some reason I've noticed a lot of games lately with crappy looking cutscenes. The two that stand out the most in recent memory are Fable 3 were the king is doing his little rant over the map or whatever (pretty stupid scene actually), and some of the scenes in mass effect 2. There seemed to be a lot of compression and low resolutions. I guess its so they can fit them on the disc?are the cutscenes in Mortal Kombat totally sub HD... like i mean... 640x480 or somethin.. because they look HORRIBLE... why didnt they just make the cs's like the gameplay graphics wich are sweeeet.

I know what you are getting at...but I have to disagree....there are cool game modes and a great selection of characters and a good number of fatalities. But the krypt is lame...you dont need to unlock any fatalities if you know the input codes...the rest of the stuff in the krypt is art (which I could care less about) do i really need to see a sketch of a fatalitiy that boon drew that looks like a 4th grader did it. Why would I go into necropolis to listen to the music, and I could give two craps about concept art. The online is also horrid, they should have made the netcode so much more flawless. It amazes me that they made an online pass for this game and they try to justify it with the lagfest that is online. It jsut astounds me. So yea I guess there is quite a bit of content, but it is mostly garabge and useless.
[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]Is it sub hd on the PS3? Medic_B
Yup and Kratos is kinda lame in the game they could have done better with his fatality's
It would have been epic if Kratos rip their heads off. Like in Gow3 when he did to the sun god, put that as his fatality with button sequencing. I was hoping for this but am disapointed. You're right, they're lame ones in MK.[QUOTE="Espada12"][QUOTE="BodomArmy666"]

Oh yup so that totally excuses lazy developing. Quality gaming !! ;) Wow this is...just...You realise that they have those cutscenes in higher quality right? No self respecting 3D artist would render ANYTHING at 640x480 nowadays unless they really needed to save time. It's because you can't fit uncompressed videos onto a DVD, simple as. So unless not coming out with a new disk format for their game is lazy, please don't talk nonsense.first things first, who actually cares bout kutscenes in MK.....not me anyway i just like the sheer violence of MK its a breathe of fresh air from the Japanese fighting games this gen and MK is defo back to its old ways :D

No I expect both. Mortal Kombat dosen't get a purchase from me because of that.An entire story mode with cutscenes isn't enough?I agree....and the endings are lame as hell too....what is this 1995, I get a damn slide show for an ending. for f###s sake there have been cgi endings for the longest time. No I expect both. Mortal Kombat dosen't get a purchase from me because of that.If you are ready to skip Mortal Kombat because the cutscenes aren't good enough for you, I'd like to know what fighting games you actually ARE planning on playing this gen. As far as this genre goes, cutscene quality pretty much only goes downhill from Mortal Kombat-- if you get any cutscenes at all.[QUOTE="Espada12"][QUOTE="xXShortroundXx"] Oh yup so that totally excuses lazy developing. No I expect both. Mortal Kombat dosen't get a purchase from me because of that.Just curious.... but what games do you actually buy then? Devs don't an infinite amount of money so there will always be some sort of comprosie of certain elements. MK is a fighting game. Fighting games tend to have little to no focus on story, MK didn't bother with wasting resources on cutscenes. This was a smart decision, I would rather have them do this than compromise on gameplay or content.

no its not...i expect more. this is 2011, we dont use catridges anymore. There are plenty of other games that how a million times more content then mk9. Cutscenes, gameplay, multiple endings, unlocks and more. And they are all on one disc. Only game I can think of that uses multiples is Lost Odyssey. MK9 does not have an excuse for this...its called being lazy.

Like what? Give me an example of a fighting game that has enough content to satisfy you.
I think it is odd that a few are saying that DVD capacity is the reason for the over compression of cutscenes?
Motal Kombat takes up 6.6GB and the DVD9 capacity is 8.4GB ... that is nearly a whole 2 GB's spare that they could have used for better quality cutscenes. And even if disc capacity was the reason why does the PS3 have the same over compressed cutscenes?

im not just talking about fighting games....if games like mass effect 2 and bad company 2 can have all that stuff packed into it on the same disc format mk9 uses then there is no excuse. just because mk9 is a fighting game it is exempt from packing itself full of quality stuff? i guess they should make mk the rpg to satisfy my needs according to you.

I thought the OP was pretty funny, but WOW to the guy saying he won't buy the game because of it... It's people like you who are ruining gaming. Fun games aren't good enough because the cutscenes aren't setting million dollar a minute Final Fantasy render farms on fire for you? It's really come to this?
To you and everyone who thinks like you do.. I seriously hope you trip and fall into a time machine and get teleported back to the Atari 2600 era. I really do.

You can't just throw out random games from other genres as examples. Fighting games have totally different standards.
If you can't even come up with one example of a fighting game that has the amount of content you want, you have no reason to be disappointed. Unless for some reason you imagined that MK was going to have 10 times the content of the average fighting game.
TBH this just sounds like you didn't do any research before buying it. You could have found all this out easily by reading reviews.

Thats your opinion, its not a fact. Why should fighting games have different standards....that is complete bs...you know what has different standards....a fighting game on the ds as opposed to the 360. A game is a game, there are all held to the same standards IMO. Seems like you are the one who needs to do research, I expected better from someone with a million posts.

You know what I mean. The content you expect in a fighting game is totally different from what you expect in Mass Effect or Battlefield.
That is, what a reasonable person would expect. Maybe not someone who gets a fighting game and then complains that a 5/6-hour campaign doesn't provide enough cutscenes to watch.

Endings arent something you should care about in a Mortal Kombat game. That should be the least of your worries its a fighting game, the story mode and single player are only there to humour you, the main focus of these games is the competative area of it, so why bother with some overbloated single player game when you dont need it and get the mechanics down instead.
Also MvC3 has endings just as bad as MK's in "production" value and probably could be done on cartridges aswell.
And the fact your comparing an RPG to a fighting game makes your arguement a ton less plausible tbh.
I dont have the game, but I know I would rather have alot of kontent, rather than buffed up kutscene quality in a fighter.
