today I tried Goldeneye on Wii and I couldn't help noticing how much I struggled with keeping my arm steady because the wiimote acts like a mouse. the problem is that it's not stable and you can't always keep your arm in a position, so when you move it for whatever reason, the camera turns.

I don't know if it's because I'm not accostumed to that kind of control, but I found it to be a bad method to control the camera, being used to the right analog stick and mouse.

I like the fact that you can actually point and shoot, but having the wiimote control the camera can be tiring and frustrating at times.

any of you guys played the game with a wiimote and nunchuk?

I hate it, too, but the analog stick is by far the worst method of all

same thing with the razor hydra.. tried Assassin's Creed with it, it sucked big time, because I had to keep my hand steady otherwise it'd turn around like crazy and it honestly gave me dizziness.

The problem with the wiimote for shooters is that sometimes it's hard to control the pointer on the screen when it's stuck in one area.

It's only because you aren't used to it. Go adjust the controls and try adjusting the dead zone. It's far better than dual analog for FPS, but not quite up there with KB/M yet.

Yes it's not easy, but I have fun with it none the less. Analogue with a centred reticle is much better though.

It's not you.

The method just doesn't work, plain and simple. Without going into detail on how bad it is.

(when I had COD:Reflex), I sat down or lied down on my bed and played it, just moving my wrist to aim. I'm guessing its like Goldeneye because both are FPS's on Wii and they are both by Activision.

Just practice. Right now I"d give your skills with the wiimote a 7.5, probably. In time, when you aren't a du**a$$, you'll learn to use the wiimote properly.:)

I wonder what control would be like if instead of wiimote+analog it is wiimote+dual analogs. For me I imagine it being just as easy as dual analogs but you would be able to do crazy stuff with the controls

Keep your elbow on the elbow rest. You'll only have to move your wrist slightly this way, keeps it stable. Always provides excellent accuracy for me.

Often FPS games have settings. Such as Conduit, Goldeneye and CoD games.

Sometimes random things such as candle light or direct sun light may interfere with the signal.

Your arm is tired because you're probably doing it a weird way. Try resting your arm along your thigh/knee, and make movements with your wrist, not arm. If you're lying down, then rest it any where tbh (body, cushion, couch etc.). Your arm shouldn't really get tired.

Finally, experience may help. I find it easy, but I've been doin' it since launch. So I can't really say for newcomers.

Good luck getting it right.

same as goldeneye but better... in goldeneye if you move the wiimote too far off the tv screen then the pointer gets lost and you have to center the wiimote again..

in call of duty you can point all over the place and your pointer will never get lost.....not only that but call of duty just plain feels and controls better than goldeneye with the wiimote.

conduit 2 is even worse than goldenye....conduit 1 is pretty good though..almost like call of duty..

if you do get call of duty on wii get either black ops or MW3....i love reflex but you must also love lagshooting in that game...

at the end of the day, you need freedom of movement on console.. the only thing that can replicate a shotgun is a pointer.. but again the problem with pointers is that you need to point it right, while joypads work also if you put them under the quilt and it actually gives you much more freedom of movement. with the wiimote acting like a mouse, you need to pause the game even to scratch your nose. just an example.

I have my arm completely relaxed when playing a shooter on Wii. Its not like you have to have the arm up in the air, I lay it on my knee or on the "arm" of my armchair and aim with slight wrist movements. Overall I like the control scheme, the only thing that bothers me a bit is that I cant turn around fast enough...

It does take a while to get used to it, once you do the only problem you should have is your arm hurting from keeping it in the air so long -_-

The biggest thing I hate abotu the Wii is typing letters, I cant keep the damn thing steady.

You'll get used to it, and then you'll find it to be much better than the 360 or PS3's stiff controls. Just sit down and put the nunchuck and wiimote on you lap. I didn't play Goldeneye Wii but I did play Modern Warfare Reflex. It takes some getting used to, but its actually really simple. For FPS' I still prefer PC controls over all, then 360>PS3>Wii(Its not the order I like the controllers, but the order that I'd prefer if I had to pick what to play with). but thats basically because some stuff is really hard on Wii, like Sniping - its pretty much impossible to do effectively. Sometimes the controls can seem a bit off as well. Having said that I do enjoy Wii controls

Its the game, not the controller. Its works amazingly with Metroid Prime. I had fun with MoH: Heroes 2, but CoD3 is unplayble.

Mess around with your settings, im sure you can customise it so it works for you.

I have both of these problems. When it comes to Wii FPS, it's such a mixed bag. With regards to pointing and shooting, it's 100% awesome accuracy, better then dual analogue any day, I LOVE it. The problem comes with the actual camera control. In something like Halo the camera is always steady and I can whip around 180 degrees in a split second. Whereas on Wii FPS the camera is always a certain level of jittery and turning is really cumbersome. I can definitely see why people think Wiimote is better for FPS, since the aiming is so cool. But for overall gameplay, camera and movement, dual analogue is better imo.

I wish the wiimote itself had another analogue on it. I'd prefer the camera itself mapped to a second stick, with the actual aiming the pointer.

Yes. The wiis controls are sh*t. Period. Motion controls are broken & have no place in gaming. It doesnt help that i can never sit comfortable on a couch but rather have to sit upright & have the control pointing at the screen the entire time. Its very uncomfortable & tiring.

Every game ever released on the WII should haveincluded Classic Controller support. Period. There is no excuse for this. I hate playing SMG1 & 2, Zelda TP/SW with motion controls. I want to kill myself when im playing.

I'm sorry, but Super Mario Galaxy 1, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Zelda: Skyward Sword wouldn't be the same with standard controls. For the Galaxy games, you may as well ask for half the games to be stripped, not to mention that Skyward Sword was especially built with motion plus and you can do things you couldn't with a standard controller.

I've never had any issues, I normally keep my hand rested on my laps, and just move my wrist and it works fine. I usually keep the dead zone pretty small so I turn my camera around with the slightest movement. It works for me, I'd say it's an adjustment. Most people are just used to having their cameras centered. Fiddle with the settings, and you could find the sweet spot that works for you.

In the case of Mario Galaxy and Zelda: Skyward Sword, no it wouldn't have. Those games had quite a high reliance on motion controls, doing things in the game you couldn't with a standard controller. It's not like Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Mario Kart Wii, Sonic Colors, and Goldeneye 007 where the motions and other actions in the game were simple enough to map to a controller (hence why Eighting, Nintendo, Sonic Team, and Eurocom added CIassic Controller and Gamecube controller support to each of their games).

This is one of the biggest problems I have with the Nintendo Wii. More than half of the games I've played on the system require you to keep your hand held out in mid air to keep the camera steady & then you have to point slightly to the left or right to turn the camera. This is totally unacceptable & massively uncomfortable. Good games like de Blob just have you go old school & press the buttons on the D pad to change the camera & you don't ever have to hold out your arm in mid air at all in that game. I think Endless Ocean: Blue World is the best game on Wii, but it also falls into this category of having to point at the screen to change the camera view & that is really the only fault with Endless Ocean. Whoever the idiot is that thought people would want to control their camera in this way should be clubbed.

Its this simple. You guys are crap with a Wii-mote!!! Its not the Wii-remotes fault that you are useless. Its works well for many games (not all) but FPS is where it reigns supreme against normal controllers.

Try adjusting it to suit you, Learn to rest arm on something, I use to use a pillow on my lap when playing Prime 1,2,3. Red Steel 2. Im yet to try Goldeneye on wii though i brought it. Sit directly infront of the TV.
