Is it me or did The Xbox sell a lot more than the ps3 this Christmas ?

I just went to a store( Virgin Megastore ) , to get kinect Sports ( Which was out of stock, i am in lebanon btw) And there was no 360s to be found i asked the guy there he told me they were sold out , asked him about kinect they still had a few ( its for 260$) he told me they re-stocked 3 times , there were tons of ps3 sitting there , and lots of PS Move , i asked him why there was so many , he told me it was because of kinect Lebanon is a place where every Boys dream is to get a ps3 , but because of the high price of consoles and games , people rarely get them . Is this happening everywhere?

Nope, Still plenty of both where I live. There is large abundance of the Kinect bundle though. Almost like Microsoft is forcing anyone who wants a 360 to get Kinect as well. Not surprised.

We won't know till the Oct-Dec quarterly reports come out next month.

we don't know yet how the consoles did this holiday. we'll know when the big 3 release official numbers. I have a feeling that 360 will have sold a few hundred thousand more than PS3 though. maybe the other way around though. i think it'll be close though. Wii will have sold quite a bit more over the holidays than the other 2 as well.

I don't see how it could be just you, either it did or didn't and we wont know for about a month. (No not when NPD comes out, when the quartly reports come out)

Haven't been to gamestop/best buy lately but it wouldn't suprise me if those 360w/kinect bundles aren't selling like hot cakes. :lol:

I have to say that kinect is much better than my expectations were... Kinect sports, dance central, kinect adventures and kinectimals are the games i own and all of them are pretty fun. oh and my 2 year old son and i bowled together this morning. crazy.

Depends on where you live.

US = Xbox + kinect

Europe (except UK) = PS3 + Move (starter pack sold out in most places and lots of move navigation controllers available). Most countries in Europe that I know of don't even stock as many Xbox's as PS3's

Japan = xbox what?

Rest of the world = not sure, but probably more balanced, mostly due to easy xbox piracy

I'm in USA and there are almost no available xboxs around but tons of PS3s. I've been hearing they sold extremely well a salesmen at a local game store said PS3 w move is moving like hot cakes but said 360/kinect sold out immediately. Kinect alone can be found though. Family had tons of fun with the kinect.

In all honesty, I cant see why you wouldnt want an xbox360. its full of awesomeness... I may get a ps3 at some point, but there is zero rush with what ive got brewing on my 360.

I lived in ATL and went to visit my relatives in CT and both places had plenty of all the sytems in stock. Not sure how people can make such a judgement from one store. LOL. I'm sure the 360 sold more than the PS3 because of Kinect but how does that really effect us unless we own stock in the company. Sony is making money so they are doing alright even if they are last place in the US and UK.

Hasn't it been estimated by analysts that the 360 may sell 1.7 million units in december largely due to Kinect?

Of course its going to outsell PS3 this christmas, at least in North America, perhaps where you live too since they seem to be sold out there as well

Fixed. Seriously every news outlet is talking about how Kinect is moving units, so I don't know if you meant to doubt the popularity of 360 and Kinect, or if you just mistyped

in the US, i wouldnt be suprised to see the 360 beat the ps3 in december by a million units. i see the wii killin the ps3 too, if anyone cares.

I found a stack of Kinect bundles and 360, and a large amount of PS3, but I can't find a Move starter pack anywhere. (Yesterday BTW)hexashadow13

Btw where I am in the uk its hard to find ps3's in stock or standalone xbox's. All I see in Game and hmv atm is kinect bundles. Because of this its PLAIN to see kinect is fail and will never do well. Just so you know.

Yes, they did. And in Japan. In the u.S. however, it was almost 2:1 in favor of the XBox 360. I November XBox 360 sold like 1.1 million in the U.S., while the PS3 sold about 600K.

Indeed I was more trying to make a point to the TC;p the Uk is with the US in xbox sales and i have no doubt for some reason kinect helped this xmas

Was in Game in Belfast UK today to get Enslaved (Which was sold out for some reason) and Red Dead Redemption because I'd missed them when they released and my mate wanted a Wii second had.

Got talking to my mates girlfriend who works their(Yeh lucky sod) loads of Moves and Kinects left, however they were sold out of 250GB PS3's and 4GB 360's.

Saw a fair few people returning the likes of Ea Sports active on the Wii, Kinect games and Move games because relatives had bought them not knowing you needed a peripheral.

Did y expect anything different after it was featured in opra with kinect?

Where I live, there are some places sold out of everything (Wii's, PS3's, and 360's), and there are other places completely stocked up. It's hard to say, I can't really say where this thread is going...good luck! :P

Will be interesting to see December sales numbers. Stores offering a $100 gitcard with purchase of a PS3 should help Sony's numbers.
