Is it possible to make a Hybrid hard core casual game?

I know the idea is far out but humor me.

why not for instance make a  action adventure game but put a entirely separate casual game on the disk.

Like have  game hats action adventure game B, but on the same disck there is action game be bowling Golf, shooting ect.

Market the game with commercials for both portions. why cant games crossover?

 YOU HAVE TO DO SOMTHING DIFFERNT IF YOU WANT DIFFERNT RESULTS. THEY DIDNT PLAY HARDCORE GAMES BEFORE EVEN WHEN THERE WHERE SETTINGS. 

Why do that when you can sell the two separately and likely make more money?

Or even better, why not make a game with appeal for both groups? It's worked for Nintendo. 

Any games around the 8 bit 16 bit era tended to easy to pick up and play but only mastered by the truly 'hardcore'. You had to be pretty dedicated to perservere in any game when little or no save points or offered, going over the same levels over and over again just to get that incy wincy bit further.

there's no such thing as casual/hardcore game. it's the 'gamers' that claim anything they dont like or is too easy 'casual' and anything they like 'hardcore.'cabjnico

Super Smash Bros. is the perfect example of a great game that casuals and harcores love. Halo, GTA, Pokemon, and The Sims all also appeal to both crouds

Difficulty settings work, games like Forza, Halo, C&C, Tom Clancy games all have very different gameplay depending on the difficulty settings. Also Mass Effect is supposed to be designed so that a casual player can run through the main story line no problem just running and gunning or a hardcore player can really micromange his team and beat all the sidequests.

They have been around for a looooong time. Pac Man ring any bells? Need something newer? Tetris, perhaps?

If you dont consider Tetris hardcore...stop playing games. You missed the boat.

Its called Super Mario. Easy for casuals to pick up and play and have fun... and deep enough to bring hardcores back to pull off that amazing speed run.foxhound_fox
