Even if it's not the console of your choice, do you think you could survive with the opposite system you have now. Of course, those with all systems or more than one probably wouldn't, but what if you had a 360 instead of a PS3, or a PS3 instead of a 360, or a Wii instead of either? Do you think you could get by.

I think I could. Even without PS3's great games, there are a few great games that I would like such as Gears 1 and 2, Mass Effect, L4D, Halo 3, and tons of multiplats. The multiplats are a huge variety of genres, and the biggest percentage of games this gen, so you're good with either a PS3 or 360 basically. The Wii may be different, but it has tons of party titles that could be a blast, and you get a different type of playing games than how you did on your XBox, PS2, or GC. As with PC, you get most multiplat's that PS3 and 360 get, so it's just as doable.

What do you think? Single console owners, do you think you could you survive with just the opposite of the system you own right now?

I could survive with any single system this gen, even a Wii. My tastes are broad enough, so I'd find a lot on any system. Gladly, I don't have to and I own them all. Sadly, my tastes are still super broad, thus there are so many games I buy.

Unless someone spends maybe 1-2 hours a week gaming and buys 4-5 games a year, there is no way any "gamer" could survive with one console, from any generation. I have 5 consoles on the go at any one time... PS2 (for PS2 and PS games), N64, Dreamcast, Wii (for GC games) and my 360. Not to mention handhelds and PC.

Well i got a Wii because I think they ahve the best exclusives and have for a while. Metroid is my favorite series. I have a 360 because all my friends do and it has the best online service, arcade games, controller, and multiplayer exclusives.

Oh yeah, I have a PS2 too. I'm playing MGS3 on that right now, and there's still quite a bit of games I have yet to play on that system like MGS2, Sly Cooper 1-3, and some others.

But I couldn't survive with just SNES. I did survive with just a PS2 just fine, though. I could do with a 360, not sure about Wii. PC? Well, I did game on a PC before, so maybe.

I could survive with none of the current gen systems.

I mean, I have over 70 accumulated games from last gen I have THAT I HAVENT BEATEN OR PLAYED, that can keep me content for a long while.

I'm getting by just fine with only a Wii.

But I'm kind of cheating because I mainly game on handhelds (well, DS), and my housemates have the other consoles so if there's a game I really want to play on 360 or PS3 I can use theirs.

But to be honest I don't think I'd have time for more consoles. I have a backlog of nearly 30 unopened/unplayed games as it is.

I think I could survive on the least appealing system to me (the Wii) if I really had to. Now thrive is another matter , so you better pick the right system for your wants and needs.

I am pretty happy with the pc and buy around 25-40 games a year. As far as consoles are concerned, I don't really see any exclusives that I would really enjoy , most of them just seem average, so I guess they would just be doable

Considering gaming systems are not the equivalent of air, yes its quite possible. They all have enough games to satisfiy, just depends on your taste.

Dear god no. All 3 of the consoles fail at different things so you need at least 2 consoles to survive this gen. I would say the X360 if you have to survive on 1 console this gen thats the one, its the only console thats covered all genre of games this gen even if it has overdone it with FPSs.

The 360 and PS3 share so many titles this gen that anyone could be content with either one of them.. The wii is another experience entirely.. However once Natal and The PS3 "Magic stick" are on the market for about 2 years, that "unique-ness" that the wii has will seem less significant.

I only have a ps3 and about 4 games. But that keep me decently content with socom, gta4, oblivion and mlb 09. I usually try to play everyday 1 - 2 hours or so.

Yes. If I had just one of the consoles, any of them at all, I would do just fine. Look at my sig, and you'll see what I mean. :P And keep in mind, if I only had a PS3, a lot of the multi-plat games that I have under the 360 would shift to the PS3. But it wouldn't be as great, because each one does bring something different that the others don't have, and if that were the case, I would not be planning on skipping the next gen like I am now.

Easily. There are more big multiplat games than ever. The only console i think would be inadequate if it's all you had is the wii. You could get by fine with a 360, PS3 or PC.

It is most certainly possible if you're one who doesn't need a new game fix every month or two weeks like some people here, or care to buy EVERY game the instant it comes out. I'm still playing through quite a lot of back catalog of games and I've come to realize that I could very well survive on one system if I wanted to. Thing is there's to many great games on all systems to pass up that I couldn't. Yet I still don't buy every game the day it comes out. :P I've not bought a new game in over half a year.

Yes, it's not a big deal, unless all you do all day every day is play games. I have a gamimng PC a 360 and a ps3 and at any one time two have gone without use for months at a time.

If I only had one I would take my PC, hands down.

True. I hav enot purchased a new game in, or any game at all, in four months and I still have a pile of games I have yet to really play.

Systems aren't like food and water. You can survive, you just wouldn't want to be without them. Starcraft 2, Dead Rising, Metal Gear Sold 4, Super Mario Galaxy are all games I wouldn't want to be without and they all on seperate systems.

i doubt i'd be able to survive with just a wii, its far too casual for my liking. i'd rather play GOW3, Gears and Uncharted than wii music, punchout and warioware.

This may come as a surprise to you TC, but it is quite possible to "survive" without any of them.

Jokes aside, I just own a Wii and has left me desiring more. I will pick up another console as soon as I start working again (which should be very soon). The Wii has a fun and colorful library, however, I would love to play Little Big Planet, MGS4 and a some good online FPS games. On the other hand, if I had chosen to purchase a 360, for instance, I would be wanting to get my hands on Madworld, SMG and the new Metroid (which looks amazing).

Well, it kind of seems like you don't want a Wii at all, and that's why you could not get by with just a Wii. I want a Wii for a few games but I already own three platforms I can't keep up with; no sense in throwing a fourth in there.
