Is it really all that stupid to buy a console for 1 game?

I hate M$ but i just got Halo 4 and it is simply amazing. And the funny thing is is that i hated every past Halo game. In my opinon 343 is a way better developer than Bungie, they just did everything better. Plus I would rather have Halo 4 than any Playstation exclusive. Just when i thought i would never buy a console for 1 game, 343 single handedly sold me a Xbox One. So i guess im back to Team Xbox :P

Every console I ever bought was just for one or two games.  I don't think its dumb.  Even if you end up hating the game (this happened to me with the PS3 and MGS4), its almost guaranteed that a slew of other games will make the purchase worth it.  That's always been my experience.

No because I bought an Xbox 360 just so I could play Gears of War 2.

Not for 1 game. I got a 360 for several games, but I wouldn't have got one for just a single exclusive.

Depends how late in the gen it is and how many price cuts its had really.

For something like The Last of Us? Yeah.

For xbox exclusives? No. They're kinda trash now.

Well, if that's all you're going to buy is one then yes but if that game is the King of the track, Forza 5 as a launch game along with others at launch and games after launch then it make all the sense in the world. Xbox - One Day One. :P

Bought a NES for SMB - worth it.

Bought a Genesis for Sonic 2 - worth it.

Bought a SNES for FFIV - worth it.

Bought a PS1 for FFVII - worth it.

Bought a N64 for OoT - worth it.

Bought a PS2 for MGS2 - worth it.

Bought a Xbox for Ninja Gaiden - worth it.

Bought a Gamecube for Metroid Prime - worth it.

Bought a Wii for Mario Galaxy - worth it.

Bought a PS3 for FFXIII, MGS4, and TLG... - those didnt work out so well, but the system was still well worth it.

Bought a 360 for Ninja Gaiden 2 - worth it.

So no, I don't think its a bad idea.

The lems have always touted about their robust online community at xbox LIVE. Considering current trajectories, it would be a shame if you paid for multiplayer only to find out that there's no one else online.

I bought a PS2 for Dragon Quest VIII... I consider that worth it. It's still the only really good game I got for that system

Have you not tried many PS2 games?  I cant imagine having a tough time finding good games on the PS2 lol.

Yeah I didn't get much as it was already close to the end of that gen anyways. The next best game to DQVIII was Devil May Cry 3 special edition and I must say that that was actually a really good game as well. I also had Jack and Daxter and Battlefront II, but they were just OK games really.

Yeah, DMC3 was damn great.  I never got into Jack or Battlefront that much either.
