Is it really fair to compare a dynamic, variable dependent platform like the PC

Wouldnt the fact that a good portion of the biggest games are multiplat go against such a statement?

How so? Do you believe that Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo are competing against PC hardware manufacturers?

No but Its in thier best interest to take away developers market share from the platform like any other ( Mainly SOny and Nintendo in that sense ) , the aim to sell most out of the multiplat versions... MICROSOFT has to be careful on both fronts however.
