[QUOTE="hongkingkong"][QUOTE="Ehlohim"] [QUOTE="hongkingkong"]once the fad dies down the market will even out for people who want sports games. e.g. anyone who thinks footy games will work on wii (that aren't based on unrealistic looking european stereotypes some racist japanese man made) will be unpleasently surprised. There is a limited amount of genres out there that the wii can handle so ninty needs to move into newer territory in order to follow this innovation lark through. IMPO.Tylendal
I don't see how the Wii can only handle "a limited amount of genres". Even assuming that motion sensing controls are just a silly passing fad that Nintendo capitalized on, the Wii remote retains all the functions of a standard video game controller. Your left thumb manipulates a thumbstick and your left index finger has access to two shoulder buttons (the nunchaku). Your right hand has access to a shoulder button and a variety of face buttons (the Wii remote itself). The motion sensing controls only enhance gameplay, not pidgeon-hole it.
sorry i didn't expand on that point very well, what i meant to say was "the genres which we are used to now", i didn't mean the wii can't handle a lot of genres, only that FPSs, soccer, racing basically your typical system sellers in the other two consoles case's. I would saygames like Warioware have already expanded into this new genre making use of the innovation and making best use of the technology.
Nintendo has already proved itself to be good for the racing genre, and as for FPS, MP3 will set the precedent, and I have yet to hear anything but good news about the controls. There is no genre that can't be done by the Wii, people just need to think of a way to do it.
Racing games on wii i'm sure it hasn't proved itsef worthy. Yet another Mario Kart? I wouldn't mind. FPS games just don't feel right, its harder to aim with the wiimote than the analogue, plus the graphics aren't good enough for the immersive experience !!!IMO!!! i must stress this is just my opinion it is not fact (yet :P)
