Well the question is there.
Do you think its time for him to retire or maybe to take a back seat and allow other people to do more creative work ?!

why would he want too.its wuite clear that he loves his job. i dont think he would want to leave it

I remember reading somewhere that he was considering retire already, maybe next gen will be his last one, truly a shame when that happens,
Why? One of his clones would just take his place.
...Don't tell me you didn't know about teh clonez!?

What this person said. He has the job of his dreams, it's pure creativity, why would he want to retire? He'll retire when he wants to. Noone is keeping him from retiring. He is still a major voice at Nintendo because he loves his jjob.
i believe he's holding back nintendo pretty much these days too stubborn.lolsocosoco
Sorry to tell you but you are in the minority.
No. He still has a lot of say in what goes on for certain games and hardware.HaziqonfireHe must not because nintendo was focused on the hardcore gamer during early n64 years and n64 was the most powerful console when it launched.

He was with nintendo then still.

Nintendo has never made games for the "hardcore gamer". Most of their games are accessible and enjoyed by a wide audience. Always have been.
Allow? Who are we to allow him or tell him to retire? If he loves his job and he still wants to create games, back off.lordlors
Why would i back off a theoretical question.
Nintendo are like a football team (Not that lame USA stuff). Occasionally you get that star player who takes all the lime light from the team. This sometimes doesnt allow the team to be more expressive as everyone is saying "Pass to X player". This player takes all the credit, glory while there isnt no "I" in team. Sooner or later this star player moves on / retires and the team gets rebuilt and becomes more expressive as everyone isnt shouting "Pass" to X player.
I've enjoyed my Wii this gen and what Nintendo has offered so people dont think im some hater for whatever reason.

Look at his user level, look at his post count :P
On topic, is this really being asked? Nintendo's first party games this generation were amazing, he's an absolutely gifted man and one of the few in the industry who truly has a love for video games. The man is the essence of fun and making things that make people happy, I hope he has a long career ahead and it will be a very sad day in gaming when he steps down.

Lol! I was to busy to look at his user level.
I hope he still has a long & fruitful career ahead of him.

Same here. Keep the amazing games coming, Miyamoto!
Let the guy retire when he feels like it. His life is videogaming and he seems to love his job. If he decides to work up until the day he dies then good for him. If he decided he wants to retire today then I appreciate everything hes done for gaming and wish him the best of luck.

No offense but what a stupid comparison. We're not talking about a sports team here and a video game company is vastly different from a sports team. We play games not watch developers create games. It's the gamers' fault actually for just giving the credit of a game to one person when a game is created through hardwork of so many people. Gamers should have known this already. Maybe that's why nobody pays attention to the rolling credits in the end.
Miyamoto supervises. It doesn't mean he didn't gave much for the creation of a game. How are you to know in the first place? Too much ignorance.
That's like saying "Do you think its time for NIntendo to die?" ..... so yeah. :PMrSelf-Destruct
I know this is an incredibly selfish thing to say, but I do fear for what may become of Nintendo after Miyamoto passes. He keeps their design philosophy in check. Apparently the Mario team wanted to start placing emphasis on story and Miyamoto was the one that shut that notion down quick.
Just imagine if Zelda started featuring big budget wasting CGI cutscenes with Nomura styIe character art, convoluted pretentious stories and a fully voiced emo Link? Worse case scenario, I know, but I just hope Nintendo never loses their direction.
Let Miyamoto work till he feels it is time to retire, while I do love his projects (both recent and old). I wouldnt want him to work when he would rather retire, like a certain other developer I wont mention (I angered several people mentioning him).
While I am happy he is still desgining games, I wouldnt be angry if he suddenly retired.

I love me a good story in games, especially Zelda, but I definitley don't want what you just said.
Miyamoto is going to live and work for eternity(at nintendo). they will download his brain into a cyborg.gamefan67
I firmly believe that Miyamoto is a Highlander and has been decapitating other game designers for centuries, absorbing their knowledge. It would line up with Nintendos history if you think about it. :o

Don't think his philosophy is getting stale? sure keep the core view intact, but a big budget CGI cutscenes would be awesome...Zelda has a profound story, would love to see something done with it in that way. Just not to the extreme obviously.[QUOTE="gamefan67"]Miyamoto is going to live and work for eternity(at nintendo). they will download his brain into a cyborg.sandbox3d

I'm just not sure how well Ninty can do with a story heavy game and I'd hate to see things go wrong.
And I certainly don't want a story heavy Mario platformer. When I play Mario I just want to get right in to the awesome platforming. I don't need some epic story or anything distracting me from the awesome gameplay.

Well mario is a different story, no one really wants to see a Italian plumber being portrayed in that way..make little sense. The rest i can agree on.Please Log In to post.
