Or does the Wii's online service so scuttled that it was just too crappy for devs to use yet?

---

Previous versions of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon allowed players to face-off online, but the Wii version doesn't. Why? Midway points the finger at Nintendo.

"Obviously we had online on other platforms so it wasn't going to be a technology challenge for us," said the game's producer, Shaun Himmerick, to advancedmn.com. "Nintendo didn't have their online system ready for us when we would have needed to implement it," he continued.

Nintendo must have been hogging the online tools for themselves then, because Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is set to release in June, after Nintendo's own Mario Strikers Charged - the first online Wii game in Europe - which goes on sale later this month.

To prevent Wii owners from feeling completely shafted, however, Himmerick goes on to reason: "That is a big reason we focused on giving the single player experience even more attention to perfect the new controls system, the addition of Endurance mode and an additional Kharacter."

Jesus, is your signature big enough?

Until 2008? I wouldn't be sure of that until E3 in June. Super Mario Strikers is online in June, so that covers first parties. We'll just have to wait and see what goes down.

The Bigs is scheduled for a Q3 release.

Guitar Hero 3 will be online.

There are two online games in 2007. So I guess not.

i dont think its intentional in fairness. the network wasnt ready in time for the devs by the sound of it. if they were to delay it for a few months they could probably have it ready and in shops well before 2007. unfortuinately it just seems that ninty want ready in time.

thats how i have read it anyway. if they are intentionally holding back tools from 3rd parties then sha,me on them. but i dont think they are...there not the nintendo of old. the first DS game online (in europe anyway) was tony hawks which was from a 3rd party.

Do we know anything about how the online system will be implemented?

Will it be like the ps2 where you create a new log-inn for every game, or will everybody have their friend codes floating above their heads?

Or....will they allow you to assign a name to your friend code?  That would be the easiest option for us, imo.

Then you're definitely not the only one. An elaborate trap, that was.

It will be Friend Codes that you assign a Mii, but you can't have more then One Mii on at a time (But that is only for Super Mario Strikers) (Pokemon Battle Revolution uses what the DS uses)
