I have a ps3 and love it, the problem I am running into is all of my friends own 360's and play online together so I feel out of the loop whenever they wanna play together. Was wondering what people thought that own both systems if it just ends up where one is shelved or if they like having both? It would probably end up 360 = multiplayer ps3=exclusives. I know I'll get flamers but I just like ps3's exclusives more.

If you have a ps3 and don't like the 360's exclusives, then the difference in multiplats/online services isn't enough to warrant picking one up.

No. PC + PS3/360 is the best combo. Since you already have a PS3, PC is the obvious choice.

this. but 360 has some nice exclusives too like halo's and geow that is worth picking up. specially if you dont have a pc youll missed some games like left for dead and mass effect to name a few.

I owned both and it was definately worth it. You get the exclusives for both consoles. I've recently given my 360 to a family member because I didn't play it for months and it was just collecting dust, but it's still in the same house so I can still play it :)

If you have the money and there are actually exclusive games on the 360 you want to play it is worth it. If you just want it to play your friends online then you'd be better off spending the money somewhere elsem not saying that Live is bad or anything but I just don't see the point in buying a console just to play your friends online.

In your case, yes, it is. This would be different for everyone of course, but the 360 will offer a richer multiplayer experience for you compared to PSN since you have friends on there, and for other reasons as well... although you pay for it.

If you want to play with your friends, then I say go for it. Just make sure you pray every single day so that the RRoD goes away.

Owning an Xbox 360 and PC is a bit redundant IMO, I can't see any justification on part of the fact that the majority of highly rated multiplats on Xbox 360 are also on the PC.

I have a PS3, 360 and gaming PC and I find it worthwhile. The only thing is you have to be interested in the exclusives offered on each console.

I do most of my gaming on PS3 and PC but my 360 still gets a fair bit of use. It becomes even more favorable to have both a 360 and PS3 if you don't have a gaming pc. If you don't have a PC, the 360 suddenly gives you access to alot of great games like L4D2, ME, ME2, Splinter Cell, GeOW. Its a mute point for me since I actually play all of those on PC but I still find the 360 a worthwhile addition.

Heck for my 360 I've only got exclusives:

Halo 3

GeOW2

Fable2

Halo 3: ODST

Forza 3

Even with only those 5 games I've already recouped my full value(IMO).

The other thing to consider is time. Obviously if you don't have the time to game, then the extra system isn't going to be worthwhile.

I have both and 2 high end PCs. I don't have a problem. I have reasons for playing on all 3 platforms.

a. I like the Playstation exclusives

b. I have a lot of friends that play on live and I enjoy playing with them coop.

c. The PC is for everything else.

I've found a purpose for all of my systems and I'm extremely happy with that.

make a list of all the games you want to buy on the 360. then divide that by the cost of the console. Are you willing to pay that much extra per game?

Pay no attention to the fanboys on here. If your friends all play on the 360, and you feel out of the loop, and you can afford to buy one, then yes grab one. There are more than enough exclusives on both consoles to make owning both a great idea.

did you even read what the TC put in his post. he wants to play online with his friends who all own 360's, if you have the cash then then its not even worth the time debating just go out and get one.

I own both and it's definitely worth it. XBL is head and shoulders superior to PSN. The exclusives are also great.

360 has a lot of good exclusives and multiplats that you can't get on PC that usually look better than PS3 multiplats.

Thank god I have those 4 systems...

Unless you can spend a tremendous amount of money on games a month... I say a big fat NO. I own both, and my Xbox 360 is back in it's original box and I'm looking for it a new owner. Here are my main reasons not to own both...

1.) The PS3 and 360 share so much of the same library, justifying an extra $300 for a few different games a year doesnt seem worth it.

2.) If you want to build up your trophy or achievement score, it makes sense to only buy games on one consoles.

I used to say PS360 is the best way to go... and it is if you can spend alot of money on games. As for me? I'm kind of a budget gamer right now. Christmas rolled around so I got alot of new games, but I've been buying alot of games that I've missed over the past few years for cheap. It only takes a game almost a year to get knocked down to $30 or $40 bucks, so I usually just opt for those... unless it's a title I've really been anticipating.

People might not call me a "true gamer" because of that, but I dont care. I've owned all three consoles this generation, and really didnt feel the need to keep spending money on more than one console. The 360 is a great console with great exclusives, but the PS3 has more exclusives to my liking, and as in your case... alot of my friends have PS3's so I play with them online. So there ya go. To me, it aint worth it.

thanks for all the help guys! forgot about stuff like fable 2, and maybe forza 3 (since GT5 looks like it might never come out). computer gaming is just so expensive, especially since less and less games are coming out for it.

I have all 3 systems and 2 gaming PC's.

I need them all, if I want to play every game I'm interested in.

360 = Halo

PS3 = Killzone 2

Wii = New Super Mario

PC = Everything else.

On topic: Ps360 is a hell of a combo in my opinion. Especially if you're not in to PC gaming. Off topic: Can someone explain to me how a user with 150 posts can be level 26?

This. I was very close to buying a 360 the day after xmas, but I decided that I could use that 260 to build my own puter. And with my budget that I'm working with thats almost half of what I'm spending on parts.

PC+PS3 just offers such a great diversity when it comes to gaming. I'm currently just swamped in titles for both with no end in sight. I don't know if I could say the same for a 360+PC combo or even PS3+360 combo at this juncture.

yeah i would say so. i would tell you a different story two years ago. ps3 is good if you want to get away from your friends and just play some single player .
