Actually to play one of the best games out there.. for $300. I think it is worth it. The best part is that the wii has the most first party exclusives of any other system. So if you just bought Nintendo made games such as MP3 SSBB Mario Kart etc than the wii is a pretty good purchase and deal. Btw mario graphics on my hdtv look almost as good as a 360 game.. and yes I do have a 360.
It almost is good enough to buy a system for, but not quite. However, Super Mario Galaxy + Metroid Prime 3 + Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition + The Adventures of Zack and Wiki + Super Paper Mario +Mercury Meltdown Revolution + WarioWare: Smooth Moves +Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 +Trauma Center: New Blood + The Sims2 Castaway= Good enough reason to buy the Wii.
Mario is excellent, but don't just buy it for that.

and other excellent titles are why you should buy the Wii... not just one game. If nothing else intruiges you... don't buy it.

DON'T buy it for games that are unreleased. If you want to get it for SSBB, then wait for the game + overdue price drop. (Funny to see people list a bunch of unreleased games. It just shows the lack of dephth of the console's game lineup.)
Buy the Wi for the Wii. And when I say that i mean Wi Sports/ Wi play/ Warioware. It is an excellent party console that non -gamers will pick up and enjoy. (Read: The girlfriend will love it) Mario is just icing on the cake.

Also, you can play 3rd person games such as Tomb Raider Anniversary and Guitar Hero 3, as well as classic older games such as ActRaiser, Super Metroid, and Link to the Past.
GC GotY's such as Metroid Prime and WindWaker are playable on Wii, as are Pikmin 2, Eternal Darkness, Skies of Arcadia Legends, and the entire RE true series!
I'll admit it is the reason i am being lured back to the Wii because i've always loved Mario but i'm also planning to get such other titles as Zelda T.P., SSBB, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, SSX Blur, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Wii sports of course, Madden and many more.
Well in all honesty, Wii Sports is good enough for me to have a Wii....But...I got SMG a couple days ago and all I can say is its crazy good. Im an oldschool gamer and Its up there with all the old Marios if not way better.
Plus I just bouht the WiiZapper that comes with the Zelda shooting game and its really cool and different. And Im getting Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles for use of the zapper too...
I say NINTENDO has helped me capture my childhood again and helped me to capture FUN in gaming like I havent had in a LONG time...
