Or maybe STALKER. But I was just thinking about this. I don't count MW1. Maybe weird games like cryostasis or what was it. But I don't know if that took place in Russia.
Any others?

Yeah, Tetris is the quintessential Russian video game. Probably one of the most fun and timeless of all time.
There's a great documentary about it on youtube covering the fight to get licensing rights, console wars and Cold War beurocracy. Surprised a movie hasn't been made about it yet.
Can't think of a better example than the Metro games. They are basically documentaries of modern day Russia. Or how I perceive the country anyway.
No way.... To me it'll always be, Russian Attack" on the NES.

Killing KGB was my business and business was good!
Then I realized it was actually called, Rush N Attack... And the mystique was gone...
Still... Those few weeks where it was Russian Attack was crazy Russian.

No, Tetris is the iconic Russian game.
Soon as I saw the title I thought of this game, so you are correct.

That was hilarious. Thanks for posting it.
Depends on what you mean by it.
Metro is very much a stylized romp, though it's much more diverse in geography than probably any other game taking place in Russia. Not full-on Mad Max, but let's say half-way there.
If you want a virtual tour of a backwater industrial Russian town, Tarkov is rather down-to-earth and accurate.
