I hope Halo 3 scores at least a 9.0. It's got a lot more going for it. Lots of action, good AI, vehicles, and great multiplayer. As a FPS game, it seems to be more accessible. (opinions are based off of Halo 1 and 2 and what little I know of Halo 3)
No , I think the success of Warhawk is more telling. Halo 3's multiplayer is going to be better than Warhawks (which cost $40)and then you have the single player campaign with co-op and the other new additions. Halo 3 is going to get 9.5 imo.
You know what would be funny if it got 8.5, and from now on 8.5 and above is now AAA. That would be funny, but it's not gonna happen. I'm gonna avoid the boards for a bit if Halo 3 flops. So many (account) suicides. So much virtual anger. It won't flop though so maybe I'll be safe.

i actually dont realy care, but if a bunch of other sites give it AAA etc. and GS gives it 8.5 (like MP3) i am not coming back here.
I was thinking that, but Halo 3 is supposed to be such a big improvement over Halo 2 that it doesn't fall into the same category as MP3. Assuming Bungie follows through with Halo 3, it'll have a better campaign than Halo CE and better multiplayer than Halo 2. There is no way GS could seriously give it anything less than a 9 if Bungie can live up to their promises.

Almost everything that Halo has done with multiplayer was done somewhere else first. The game that it reminds me of more that any other is UT. In fact I vividly remember playing Halo 1 multiplayer, and the first thing that poped in my head was, "wow, this is just like UT2004, only with no online play." I'm looking forward to Halo 3 to see the end of a great story, but as far as the multiplayer goes, I could care less. I'd rather wait for UT3. I never have, nor do I think I will ever, understand what everyone sees in Halo. To me, its just another shooter...
i swear just playing the beta halo 3 is a huge improvment over halo 2, adds way more than halo 2 added to halo 1, and is so much more fun.

Dude who cares what any reviewer gives it. It's going to be great so just enjoy the game and forget about scores. I am not even going to look at the score of Halo 3 until I beat the game on Historic. :)

If there is any logic to these so called new standards then Halo 3 should get less then 9.0. From what I can tell from all the previews this just seems like Halo 2 with bumped up graphics, but I suppose flash and hype will win out over logic, when it comes to GS review.
Easily. I really don't see Halo 3 scoring higher than 8.5 with these new standards Gamespot has developed for console games. They are outrageously tough and nitpicky. I'm guessing the Halo 3 review will contain several contradictions and poor excuses for loss of points.

That's pretty silly. If both get 8.5's, then it would show that gamespot's standards are higher. Why would you leave because of that?
