Is Phil Spencer leading the xbox one over a good path.?

Many have being those who think of Phil Spencer as some kind of savior of the xbox one,after the whole MS fiasco caused by their always online no used games policies and the way all was handle.

But i think he is more of an executioner than a real savior of the brand and i tell you why.

1.MS stopped talking about anything having to do with numbers,something that MS never did even when the original xbox came out they talk about NPD and even brag when the xbox outsold the PS2 once or twice under a price drop,with the 360 it was all about bragging now is all secrecy.

2.Lack of effort to secure exclusive games and its subsequent announcement of xbox first party games hitting PC.

3.The merge basically with PC on windows 10 or the so call unity which is something MS has avoided with great effort i may add because MS in the first place didn't want people to see the xbox as a cheap branded MS PC,it was the reason the OG xbox never got and internet navigator,and the reason only the end of last gen they release IE for xbox 360.

4.Fable cancel,2 studios Kill on a moment were the xbox one is basically gameless and suffering from a weak line up this year.

I think is clear the direction taken by the brand now is not a good one,the xbox basically loss its soul and reason on being if PC get all xbox one exclusive it would be nothing more than a cheap PC with non of the benefits and all the bad things like an online fee and enclosed environment.

I guess only time will tell if Phil was put in place to save the brand or actually try to transition part of its user base to windows store and close the xbox brand once and for all.

I think MS is taking a wrong turn and I feel Phil and MS mislead Xbox fans. Rather that is Phil or the higher ups idk but I hold them all responsible and I am very disappointed as a long time Xbox supporter in the direction they have gone.

I don't think Phil is in control of much right now. He is just a PR mouthpiece trying to keep his job. Nutella has his nuts in a vice. Xbox division finally has to justify its existence and they are having are hard time doing it.

Phil does what he is told, no different from Don, Don was used as an scape goat. MS are the same as any other company, they read society and from research they create a persona which some one portrays - in comes Phil. He is nothing like you feel he is, he is a puppet who has his strings pulled, society are full of mugs.

Well i know what he is in fact i told many lemming who just wanted to blame Don for everything wrong with the brand in recent years and even Phil him self stated he was part of MS online require no used games policies and he stated that would not deny being part of it.

I say that because contrary to what i believe many lemmings do see him as some kind of savior that will erase all the xbox one problems.

I agree with just about all of it. Don had been in gaming all his life, Phil seems like a yes man.

Phil is a talking head, he has no power. Of course the Xbox division is headed in the wrong direction. They should be building first party studios instead of closing them and Xbone should be getting more exclusives instead of losing them to PC.

Sure.....their big selling point after the launch debacle was exclusives exclusives.....and the reason I buy consoles is for exclusives. As you know that talking point is dead, there may be a few here and there but with Forza, maybe Gears 4, Recore, Scalebound etc. It seems like a quick and sudden turn from their original message.

I liked him a lot more before he started closing down studios. Microsoft needs to be opening more studios and making more first party games, not less.

That is what I said all the time. I do not believe this Spencer Dude at all. I think he is always fake as hell and nothing more than a PR man for MS!

Some of those studios were only confirmed by the M$'s website (and used for list wars by posters), and now those same studios with essentially zero commercial output are now removed from the same site.

It's like they never existed in the first place. :(

I think Phil is doing a great job and xbox one will benefit with games going to pc. More than likely more people will develop knowing they have pc audience in the mix. Vast majority of gamers don't care about games also coming to pc. In System wars it looks dire, but outside of sw it's fine. Just like Sony was doomed when they closed divisions and sold off property, they seem to be doing fine.

And they are hardly closing studios left and right... This is the first time I can remember that they closed studios.

How will the xbox one benefit from losing its exclusives to PC.? Is the soul of the console Halo,gears,Forza,Fable and others is what have drive people to buy an xbox in the first place.Those games hitting PC are exclusives not multiplatforms is anyone want to do a game for PC and xbox they could do them from the start like Ori and many other games.

@tormentos: will benefit because of people like me who don't own/care for a gaming pc and want to play those games. No soul is lost, just games to be played. I think the only negative is in System wars where lems can't use games as exclusive, as console excluisves don't hold much weight. I'm not a die hard xbox one/Ms fan. I just like to play games and I like the ones offered on xbox one. It doesn't bother me losing games to pc.

What you like or care is irrelevant you don't need an xbox one for those games any more once MS release them,which make the xbox one a gimped PC with non of the benefits of an open platform and with a $60 online toll both.

Really so you think some one who pay $500 dollars on launch and has fork $180 in live fees since November 2013 is actually happy to see that he could have get a stronger PC than the xbox one on 2013 and save those $180 and put them into games.?

Contrary to popular opinion on this board, I am an Xbox fan. The Xbox 360 is one of my all time favorite consoles, and in general, I have given Microsoft more slack and leeway on issues than I have either Sony or Nintendo. I have always felt that Microsoft has a long term strategy in place, and my faith was rekindled after Spencer was brought on board in 2014.

I see now my faith was misplaced- on the whole, it is now clear that what MS wants from Xbox is not, ultimately what I wanted from it.

To be honest I gotta agree with Rice on this one.

For me personally, it was long stated that Quantum Break was a Xbox One exclusive, nobody knew it was also coming to PC all of a sudden as the game is getting close to release and that right there surprise me. Were not saying that were gonna ditch MS alone, just Xbox One console. For me, I been using Windows 10 almost a year, I don't basically hate it, I rather work with MS Windows 10 then actual Xbox console as it is. Am I gonna miss few games on it that's not coming to Windows 10? Possibly but however, I'm Halo burn out, Gears of War and Forza have lost me. In short chickenfriedrice and me kinda feel the same about Xbox One when we can use our PC.

I am interested seeing what MS does at E3 2016, will they get booed at the press? Will they impress us what the future holds for Xbox One? We shall see.

For me, if MS cannot impress me to give me a reason to keep my Xbox One alone, I'll just trade it for Nintendo's NX and only if Nintendo can WOW me. I'll just gladly support MS Windows 10. I know I sounded harsh saying all of this but MS isn't really trying supporting Xbox One as they should be.

Well... for a long time I have had an Xbox One for Halo which I can't play on my PC. I am done with Halo MCC and bought Halo 5 which I absolutely hated and now have no idea why I have an Xbox One other than I'm too lazy to sell the damned thing.

Like chickenfriedrice I am a PC gamer who also buys consoles for exclusives and yes I feel lied to now Spencer is dumping Xbox One exclusives on PC and being smug and arrogant about it in the process. He has gone from being a bright light for a system that had the worst and most offensive (to gamers) start to IMO a quite repulsive individual who now witters on endlessly about PC (yep this is Mr Xbox speaking) and spouts inane drivel about eco systems because of course if I have a game I can play on a very good PC I will want to play it on a crappy Xbox One as well.

Straight up with you all, the big problem I have here is if I knew Xbox One would literally just be a really shitty version of PC gaming with the same games under Spencer, I never would have bought one.

He just shut down 8 studios yesterday and he is putting their few remaining games on PC so they have no exclusives left. I think he was only put in charge with the job of transitioning their gaming division away from consoles to PC.

I think they only start doing that after they got their a$$ kick by Sony. They are too embarrasses to report the console number and very soon they can't even say "the fastest selling Xbox in the history because 360 pick up in its 3rd and 4th years.

MS didn't see that coming enter this gen and now more and more I see they will give up console business and move on to steam and steam box like service. I never believe this Phil Spencer dude from day one. I never bought into his a "Gamer" BS. He is just a PR man that MS put in with a gamer image to sell more Xbox.

Seriously, no. Last gen I had a PS3 and 360 and of course PC (always have a PC, the specs just change lol) and I loved my consoles they both had a lot of things I couldn't get on PC. This time around PS4 is kind of delivering it, well promising it (let's say I am 'awaiting' it) but I can see it's happening. Not so on Xbox One unless you want to play Halo or Forza.

I'm a disappointed PS4 owner, traded in my 360 in 2013 to buy the PS4 at launch.. 2 and a half years later.. first party is still a wasteland, and Uncharted is a bore.

Shouldn't PC be your multiplat system? PS4 is agonisingly slow in getting to the party, no doubt, but at least it will eventually turn up. Xbox One has just sent 'wish I was here' messages and now Spencer is pretty much openly declaring they had alternative engagements and will never show up unless you want to rename your Xbox One to Shit PC.

Seeing as all the games that are now coming to PC, are still coming to XB1, I don't see what the problem is. I mainly game on PC, so obviously I am happy. I do own PS4 and XB1 for exclusives, but I don't care if I won't be playing many exclusives on my XB1 anymore. The console is garbage just like the PS4. I don't feel ripped off by buying an XB1 as I would rather play the games on PC anyway. So, I now get to play the games I am interested in on my platform of choice.

If I only played games on XB1, I don't see how any of these recent events would affect me in a negative way. Only fanboys would be stupid enough to be butthurt about games no longer being true exclusives to their platform.

However in Canada, a 970 is 500 dollars, a 960 is 350 dollars.

Thus I've stuck with the PS4 for most of this gen. I feel like I should wait till prices drop down on the 970 or 980.

970 and 980 are as cheap as they're ever going to be till the new cards come along. If you only play in 1080p on a monitor or TV a 970 will be absolutely fine. 980 and 980ti are for higher resolutions and only the latter will perform acceptably. I personally wouldn't touch a 960 at this point if I was buying a new card.

Yes, I did. I only bought them as a compromise to get access to the exclusives. I now get to play better versions of the exclusives on PC now, so I am getting what I wanted from the get go. I don't give a shit about consoles. I only care about games and playing them the best way possible.

Lots of exclusives coming up on PS4 and in fact 'exactly' the kind of exclusives anyone would expect from a Sony console and you think it's all garbage but you still bought one righto and now the Xbox One offers you literally nothing you can't get on PC and you're fine with that lol. I'm having a very hard time believing you own both of these consoles particularly in light of the fact you have claimed in the past to suffer from a multitude of horrific medical conditions when playing a game that does not run in 60fps.

I've not heard or seen many people upset over xbox one losing games to pc. Most likely it's an alt account or someone rabid over xbox one, both unhealthy.
