Is PS3 starting to elimate the "360 version is superior" logic?

I mean, aside from a madden here or a FEARthere. PS3 is really starting to make the whole 360 version of the game is better argument Obsolete. R6 vegas on th ePS3 was jsut as good as the 360 version., GRAW 2 is just as good on the PS3 (according to Gamespy) and heck, Oblivion was better on the PS3 than on the 360. So is SONY making some steps to improving the problems?

Graphically GRAW2 looked better on ps3 and dont forget DiRT looked just as good as 360 version.Blitz_Nemesis

Ah yes of course, how could I forget those. I think Lemmings are just getting pissed becasue PS3 versions of a game are looking just as good (if not better) than the 360 version. THe only prob. is when the games are released back to back, the 360 version looks better because devs used the 360 as lead SKU. But give them some time after the 360 version is released, and it ends up looking better.

Unless the PS3 versions start releasing the same time as the 360's, it'll never have the superior version. It's the same situation with the PC versions. Inferior to the console versions untill the hermits get new texture patches, quite the lol, really.

You fail to realize that the multiplats you just listed came out MONTHS after the 360 version, so of course the devs are going to make the game better. They take the criticisms from the 360 versions and correct them in the PS3 versions...

For the money they're asking for, for the extra year of hardward development, for the expectation of more powerful hardware, for the delays in games.... I would expect much more than "looks just as good". I expect the games to look much better.VoodooHak

Right... and turning the logic around a bit: the 360 version looks just as good as the PS3 version, but in some cases looks better and you can be playing it sooner, and for less.

heres the thing, ALL the games that are just as good or a lil better then the 360 vesions have had 6m-1 year of extra dev time.

when the game is released kith and kin with the 360 version then the 360 version is ALL ways better.

you refering to Ubicrap, because if not than PC versions are always better graphically... Bioshock, Oblivion, Lost Planet, and many many others attest to this.... Ubicrap appears to finally care about the PC however with Far Cry 2 so maybe they can redeem themselves....

To be honest RS. Vegas actually looked better ont he 360 but G.R.A.W and Dirt actually look better on the PS3.

The problem is, every single one of the games you listed as an example came out MONTHS after their 360 counterparts were released. Perhaps it was similar hardware to what the PS3 would have then. Something to that degree.

you're wrong.devs got the XNA devkits in 2004 and the ps3 devkits were given sometime in early 2006

Speak for yourself. My 360 is beginning to make me think that Microsoft designed it to drive my business elsewhere. As it is, I'm probably going to sell off some of my audio equipment to buy a PS3, with the sole reason I haven't sold the 360 being that it was a gift from my girlfriend.

At least as far as my experience goes, I wouldn't say that the 360 is eliminating much of anything except itself from my living room.

If you release ANYTHING months later, with all the extra dev time, of course its going to look better. Mark Rein said after Gears was released that after it shipped they found a way to make the engine perform even better and they could have done even more with the game.

Since you obviously dont mind having games delayed, hows about 360 owners get GTA4 now, if it was indeed the PS3 that caused it to be delayed like is HEAVILY rumoured. Then you get a slightly better looking, slightly tweaked version in 2008?

well games like UT3, Haze, and Burnout Paradise are eliminating that logic..not only do they release far earlier(UT3, Haze) but they also perform better WITH extra content =] ..TC, these are the games you shouldve listes..not games that come out months later on teh ps3..its not all that hard to make a game look better if its released laterFurbyballistik

That is why it is not eliminated. No matter what game came out first between the PS2 and the Xbox. Sony was always the one drawing comparisons. Now the tables have turned. Now its "looks just as good as the Xbox 360 version". What happen to all of those cells? Why is it not blowing it out of the watersince the PS3 is so much stronger? Because Sony is now in a corner. They are going to try to win you over with Killzone(7 rating) and MGS4.( which is the first good game for the PS3 to come out)It feels good watching Sony struggle. And Ea too(except for skate. But Tony Hawk is not a 2k game).

Please go and buy Bioshock right now :/, at least to tide you over until Halo 3 or Mass Effect! mastarifla

My point wasn't that there are no games - there are plenty of 360 games I'm interested in. It's that the console itself is so rife with problems, I can barely play the games I do have because of hardware problems.

Even beyond that, I'd still prefer to own both a 360 and PS3, simply because they both have games I'm interested in playing. I've always been a multiplatform gamer, the only difference this time around is that one of them has turned out to be the most unreliable piece of electronics I've ever owned.

BioShock and Mass Effect have been on my list for awhile, but contrary to popular belief, not everyone who owns a 360 wants to play Halo.

Um have you seen or heard anything about UT3 for 360. They are working on UT3 for PS3 and PC right now that is their focus. Trust me they will put as much focus on the 360 when its time for that. This is Epic we are talking about. They have made some BEAUTIFUL games for Microsoft, Unreal Championship 2 and Gears of War, so they will get it done. As for Haze i care not about shooter #12313132 unless it gets a 9.5 review.

first off serach around gamespot. they is a technical comparison of the ps3 and the xbox 360 in there before the ps3 was actually released, and it should shut you all up. Yes, the PS3 is technically more powerful in almost every way.

now. lets think logic.

 remember its business first, games later ...

 we've all heard how its pretty much impossible to make the same exact game for the 360 then port it over and vice versa. You think these publishers would want to make a version of the game graphically superior to the other? wouldnt that destroy the whole idea of making multi-plat games? those extra months were used to transfer the game to run on a completely different system, not only that but if you knew anything it takes at least a month after it is 100% complete just to market it and press the discs and ship then for a street date. 

remember, no one care if you think your version is better, cause it is in no way superior
