Will the release of PSP go affect the sales of DSi?
I own a DS Lite and I'm looking forward for the PSP Go.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I'm 24 years old and i want to buy a handheld gaming console.Over the entire net i found that people are praising DS a lot more than PSP.
Now I'm completely confused between the two.
I have done every little bit of comparison betwwen the 2 through online sources.
Now i wish to decide it based on someone's personal experience.
Please Help.
If it were priced about the same, I might say yes but with its $250 price tag in full effect, I'm going to say no.
Hardware wise the PSP Go is the better one, but unless Sony can draft some devs to make titles for it then it really doessnt matter...
The first PSP's had 2 problems
1) short milage on a charge, the PSP could only run for about 45 hours on a charge, the DS Litecan go for 12. (DSi only 9)
2) No games, this is the really big problem, the PSP has some awesome hardware, and when they yank out the horrible Disk thingie, it will hold battery longer, and be smaller and lighter. However it means nothing when Devs dont want to make games for it (I do suspect that Sony demands a hefty price for devs to be allowed to make games for it.
If Sony get people on board then Yes it will indeed be a threat for the DSi, it will look better, sound better, and has a few nice tricks up its sleeve.
The PSP Go should not even be half the PS3's original price. There is no real threat to the DSi simply due to Sony's stupid pricing policy.
or to the regular psp for that matterNa, the PSP Go is way too expensive in comparison to the DSi.

waqyum
no, the DSi isn't even selling well, but is the psp go a challenge for DS? no ....its like the wii peoplel just buy it for brand name
let me point out a few things
1 psp go is not a new handheld its just a umd less psp , focused on downloadable games that you can buy on umd as well -if you have a umd psp
it is not new,
2 its starting price is more then the 3000 series psp ,. and caNT DO NOTHING DIFFERENT
the 3000 can download these titles to -they are just psp games for crying out loud all you need is a hcsd card 16 gig , , the same amount of space that is on the psp go
there is not really any benifits to it maybe its battery life but outside that
i dont see this as a threat to the dsi or the psp it self
itll probably be like gameboy micro in terms of sales,
that is why sony gonna keep selling the 3000 seires along side it just like nintendo is with the ds lite /i

PSP Go makes no sense. You'd have to be a pretty stupid gamer to buy one. The regular PSP can do EVERYTHING the go can do, it has equal battery life, it has a bigger screen, it supports UMD and you can buy one and 16gb of memory for less than the price of a PSP Go. It serves no purpose. A non gamer isn't going to buy one because they've probably never heard of the product and I doubt Sony will advertise as much as Apple or Nintendo and they won't advertise to the wide range of people that Nintendo and Apple advertise to. On top of that, the type of games that non gamers would buy are rare on the PSP but common place on the DS and super common on the iPhone. It serves neither market.Senor_Kami
it has a smaller screen?!?!?!?

Yep, a smaller screen but that's not even the thing that's really baffling. It' doesn't have to spin a UMD, yet Sony says that the battery life for playing games equal on both machines. There are ZERO benefits to owning a PSP-Go vs a PSP-3000. Some hardcore fans are saying they are going to "upgrade" to a Go but this is like upgrading from a 3gHz Quad Core laptop to a 1.6gHz netbook and paying like 50% more money.[QUOTE="All_that_is_Man"][QUOTE="Senor_Kami"]PSP Go makes no sense. You can buy like 24 gigs of Memory Stick Pro Duo cards for less than $80, which is the price difference between a PSP 3000 and the Go. If you really want homebrew, I wouldn't go for the Go. It seems unlikely that Sony's anti-piracy measures would have gotten worse over time. All logic points to it being the opposite.it has built in 16g memory though which is gonna sky rocket Psp homebrew I can't wait
