Is RDR2 inspired by original Mafia?

Hello friends,

So after beating Mafia Remake and it refresh the story and also played RDR2 for bit I realize that rockstar actually inspired the story from original Mafia. and not only story but also all realism too.

in a sense of story that Tommy angelo and Aurther morgan are similar characters, they both are gangsters with heart and both Suffers same fate as dying at the end. Both story revolve around a family. only difference is setting and replace cars with hourses.

RDR2 gameplay is realistic like original Mafia was. simulated driving vs simulated hourse riding.

I feel like rockstar took the idea from Mafia rather than GTA as a result RDR2 is far more mature than GTA5.

but problem arise when they adopt same old mission design formula which suck. RDR2 is a type of game that offer everything amazing from story to graphics to realism to immersion but fall flat when it comes to gameplay and mission design.

So my friends do we believe RDR2 was actually inspired by Mafia 1? lets discuss

Also, never had any issues with RDR2 as far as gameplay goes and it's one of the better Western experience games I ever played and enjoy.

It did get cracked today. Or yesterday.

Rockstar are overrated. thier best game is Max Payne 3 a gameplay derivates from Remedy game. and thier best open world game is RDR2 a gameplay and story derivates from Mafia.

More than likely the 1953 movie Shane, as with Logan and many other movies.

After defeating the villain the hero rides off bleeding in an ambiguous ending, the idea being "he has no place in the world" but also most likely to die away from the childs eyes.

This is also similar to the ending of Once Upon A Time In The West where Harmonica And Frank speak about being killed off as the new world arrives, with Frank admitting he can never adhere to that way of life with only the duel having any meaning. Harmonica doesn't die, but his freind Cheyenne does, they both ride off in the distance, with Cheyenne draped over his horse as the camera rises to a shot of the railroad being built as the Western age effectively ends.

Its bashing RDR 2 a GOTY 2019 game in your style. Lots of gamers dodn't enjoy RDR 2 or GTA as its always about personal preference but they don't make Rockstar bashing threads on daily basis.Truth is everyone knows what you are.

THats not bashing. thats criticizing a PROBLEM in a game. you dont see any flaws in Rockstar games just like mainstream journalist. they slap 10/10.

GTA5 in general is 5/10 mediocre game while RDR2 is 7/10 Good/decent game. RDR2 defnitely better than plenty of AAA open world games release this gen but still it could have been better if mission design were not so bad because Aurther morgan and his story i can say is best rockstar character and story arc to date.

both of them are nothing special.

RDR 2 is just like any other Rockstar game. Rockstar games have become their own genre. If anything, Mafia was influenced by Rockstar games. Also, why are people talking about pirating? Isn't that against terms of service?

First, you didn't even play GTA 5 so no amount of trying to make you understand why GTA 5 was solid is pointless.You never play any GTA for starters.

Secondly, seems you torrented RDR 2 as it got cracked recently , played few minutes of it and came to conclusion its better than most AAA open world games, read somewhere Aurthur Morgan is a great character who dies in the end.

Thirdly and most important , share your rockstar social club ID with me. GTA V was free on Epic Store a while back even .Lets play GTA V mp together and let me point out to you why GTA 5 is good ingame.

rdr2 is just a western but the reason you might think that is the mafia was huge during the western.

western days only lasted like 60 years after that those western towns became the city's we know today that the mafia still owned at that time.

the mafia(mob) are the ones that made the US basically. there the ones who made the huge city's of today.

nothing special? gta5 is the 2nd most sold game ever. minecraft is number 1. that's special in its own right. it even sold more than wii sports and Tetris.

like i said derivates from mafia because the mafia was huge in the western towns. they pretty much owned even the police station in the west. rockstar did not sit there and copied mafia to get there story. they go off events that are in the history books just like mafia.

I didnot complete GTA5 but yeah i played it long ago. even that time i though prologue hiest was very hand holding plus game misions consist of linear path point A to point B. I even replayed it month ago. come on, GTA5 is most popular game of all time. nearly every even non gamers played it.

even i played every GTA from vice to san to GTA4. never bother to complete any of them. only fun thing about GTA series is, playing vice city using cheatcodes to mess arround for time kill. mission design were bad.

See my 6 month old thread first time i played it. my opinion remain same. it suffer from same bad rockstar game design despite better than GTA.

I actually had the same thought when I played RDR2.

it tries to put you in the shoes of a Cowboy type in the same way Mafia tries to put you in the shoes of a 1920's mobster.

Both have sim-lite elements that add to the immersion but make for a slow paced game, which I personally love. You could have told me Daniel Vavra worked on RDR2 and I'd believe you.

And yea, some parallels in the story as well, though that didnt really occur to me when I played it.

Finally someone understand the logic of this thread.

Sim elements, Gangster romanticizing story where you are good guy criminal (Tommy/Aurther). It definitely borrow heavily from Mafia 1.

Rdr 1 was a wild bunch copy. Rdr2 must be some other old western.
