Since the 360 can be modded and PS3 cannot one would assume that all the exPS2 modders migrate to the 360 en mass...BUT attach rates of games show a different story...
Does the RROD have a beneficial effect afterall?

This thread appears every few weeks.
The first time I lol'ed.
Now, its just ridiculous.
I don't think that was their intention to stop piracy. It may just be a nice sideeffect.
Is it really worth risking money, a good name, a reliability concern, and a good product just to stop piracy?

Tell that to PC games publishers...and their dirty illegal DRM rootkits...
PS I didnt say that M$ did this on purpose...Ive just asked a question...

Don't get me started on that.
I just think its ridiculous to think RROD was the way to prevent piracy. I've heard some pretty whacked theories, but none have made less sense than those. =/
The RROD is actually quite simple to fix. Put some rubber under the memory units and you stop the board from warping. Anyone who mods their console can fix the RROD, so i doubt thats it.Cali3350
Dude it has to be more then that. rubber pads don't cost a Billion dollars.
It would scare a few people out of doing it, but if you know what you're doing and what your options are you wouldn't let RROD stop you. There are other mods that minimise ring of death too.

Ive personally fixed over 15 RROD for friends on my campus. Thats all it takes. Put pressure on the board to stop it from warping.
[QUOTE="W1NGMAN-"]What is up with all this talk about Piracy and the 360? Is it really that big of a deal or is this the usual SW overreaction.Cali3350
Depends on your idea of a big deal. As far as i can tell Gears of War 2 has been downloaded around 50,000 times.
drop in the bucket compared to PC piracy. Crysis had over 5 million downloads.
[QUOTE="W1ckedGo0se"]No... Some people (Like me) are forced into Opening up there 360 ( Modding ) because of these problems...kingtito
You're forced because why???????
Technically not modding, but sometimes the spindle can jam. If that happens the console is disabled, but it's an easy fix. Microsoft charge £60, and I downright refuse to pay that when I can fix it myself with a couple of screw drivers and a cotton bud.
No... Some people (Like me) are forced into Opening up there 360 ( Modding ) because of these problems...W1ckedGo0seYeah, I opened mine after I got the E74 error (not RROD + over ayear so no more warranty) I fixed it easy. Now if I get RROD I'm not covered by the 3 years lol.

Two pawns in the same boat. I just hope hope the fat ass rook (i.e. RRoD) dosn't jump in an sink us :(.

I was so mad with MS my 360 can do illegal things now (well legal but you can make it illegal)
I got RROD yesterday, well I was playing Dead Space and thinking "hmm.. 3 months sice I got E74 and the box is still kicking" then Dead Space froze and when I turned on I got RROD. Turned it on again RROD gone then it froze on dead space and RROD again.
So I popped in Gears 2 and it played fine. Now I wanna get back to completing dead space but it's cursed!
