I have seen people bashing the PS3 because it doesn't have rumble, but I have always wanted to ask this. What is so special about rumble? I'm not for or against any system, but I for one really don't care. It hasn't affected my want for a PS3 at all (even though I don't want one). Can someone please explain to me what is so bad about no rumble?

Please don't give me a response like, " Omg Teh Lemz and Teh Sheep just want sumthing to bash on teh Perfect PS3, SONY IS GOD!" I want a clear explanation on why rumble is so great.

Some feel that the substitution of tilt for rumble isn't worth it.

It is a level of immersion that was lost by the PS3. Kojima himself stated he is mourning its loss and greatly wishes for its return.

how do you shoot a gun ingame and get NO feed back?

how do you full out destroy a car in a high speed crash and get no feedback?

seriously, rumble is a big deal.

It just really helps immerse you into the game.  I was playing Black on the 360 the other day, and realized that I had been playing with the rumble off.  I then turned it on.  What a freakin' difference.  The game was a lot more intense and actually much easier to play because you could tell when you were being hit.

Losing rumble was one of the dumbest things Sony ever did.  Sixaxis looks annoying..  I guess I will have to deal with it though...it's going to be weird playing Resistance with no rumble.

As one of the 1up journalists said, you never notice it when you are playing...but you sure notice it when it has gone.

It just feels empty without it.  I tried Motorstorm the other day, and the experience didn't draw me in because of no rumble.  And that was a racing game.  I couldn't imagine playing a shooter...

its better than crappy TILT (not motion) TILT control that's been around since N64/PS1 and Kirby's Tilt and Tumble. There's a reason why it wasn't sued anymore. Here's sony: OH CRAP, we were headstrong and decided to take that rumble company to court, AND WE LOST. Damn should of paid them like Nintendo and Microsoft, oh well what are we gonna do now? We copy nintendo a lot, lets just take some similar idea and use old technology and shove some brithish guy out on stage to suck up to Ken and tell him how innovative the new controller is. YEAH!

No, rumble really isn't a big deal. It doesn't even exist in PC or handheld gaming, and those industries do fine. However, everyone uses so much doublespeak about it it's ridiculous.

For instance, Sony saying it's last gen, and Cows following suit is just falling to a blind excuse. Alternatively, others criticising Sony for not having rumble and claiming it's crucial to immersion as just as questionable.

Until rumble becomes good enough to actually feel like your firing a gun or gettin sacked in Madden, I really dont miss it. A little force feedback missing isnt too bad.

I've never noticed any difference between playing Halo 2 and playing CS on my PC. Rumble does not add any immersion for me at all. I guess my thinking of no rumble being ok is just a personal preference?

You don't realize how big a deal rumble is until it's gone.
(I haven't played much PS3, but my gf has a modded PS2 that doesn't rumble)

i've played handheld games but there are no fps's or serious racers.

as for pc, atleast it has the stirring wheel etc for racers.

as for pc shooters, controller > KB&M

I've never understood why people made such a big deal of the loss of rumble. Yes it sucks that its gone but oh well get use to it. But then again I play PC FPS that have no rumble, Genesis and NES that don't got rumble, An arcade stick (for fighting games) that doesn't got rumble (as it should stay), and used a wireless ps2 controller for a while that had no rumble (which I enjoyed using). Maybe racing games i'll miss it even though when I was playing the Motorstorm demo at Best Buy a while ago, I didn't even notice it was gone. Infact, If it wasn't for the demo reseting itself, I don't know how long I would have stayed playing!

I think it goes a long way in some games. Like when there's little/no HUD (or you're just too caught up in the game) and the "thud-thud" reminds you you're about to die.

it's just one more cue that something noteworthy has happened in the game, I particularly like having a tactile reaction when my character gets hit in a game, it's one more way for information to get to your brain.

Lems and sheep will say yes.

Hermits will say no because theyve never had it and it dosent effect them.

Cows will say rumble is useless and they dont miss it.

I support the cows and hermits views.

as a PS3 owner, i miss it ALOT !

The thought of landing a 30 foot  jump in Motorstorm and not feeling the impact when I land sucks.  Sony made a real stupid mistake by not including rumble.

Thats it, and the fact that Sony came up with a lame excuse like "it would mess with the tilt-sensor." Even though the Wii has both. Come on Sony you didn't fool anyone it was obviously the lawsuit and you didn't want to pay royalties.

Actually, the PC has had force feedback, and rumble controller for more than a decade. I'm personally using an Xbox 360 controller on my PC, you'll notice on the back of the wired controller boxes where it says works on most windows xp systems.

You won't notice it 'till it's gone, and believe me brother, when you're firing a machine gun or a rocket launcher in Resistance and don't feel a thing, you notice it.

I think rumble isn't that big of a deal unless you make it one.  Saying that, why not include it?  I mean it's not like you have to use it.  But some ppl enjoy it.  I like it when playing games like Fight Night and shooter games because it somewhat helps stimulate the experience.

I've had some playtime with the PS3 and didn't like the controller this time around.  The main reason is I thought it was too light.  I think this is due to the lack of rumble.  I dunno but for some reason it just feels "empty".  The rumble may indeed give controller the added weight that they need to feel more "solid".  However, this is totally my opinion and is debatable.

The biggest gripe I had was with the sixaxis.  I thought it was pretty lame.  I tried it playing the motorstorm demo on a retail PS3 (not store demo) and found it so clunky that I had to turn it off.  It was unatractive.  I imagine they will make better use of it in the future but until I see that happening I think its a poorly designed gimmick.

To each his own, and this shouldnt be that big a deal.

I like rumble.  Its useful, and when its missing I notice it.  Is it enough to make me not get a PS3?  Maybe, depends on the games. Racing and FPS is when I notice it the most. RPGs not so much.
