They did that with the ps1, and ps2 do you guys think there gonna do it with ps3? It also would be great idea to start off with a fresh console that is cheap and has a good libary.

I doubt they'll bother with PS3 to be honest, unless dev costs for a new console and internal parts become cheap enough for it to make financial sense. Depends what the worlds economy does in the next 5 years
Yes. All of their consoles so far have lost weight after a few years, it'll be the same with the PS3.Floppy_JimI don't see it happening for the Wii. :o
Wait, I just thought about it, no one else ever releases smaller versions of consoles really.. only nintendo, and their 100 versions of each handheld.

even Wii would decrease in size, if they wanted to :P just look at PS2/PSP they almost have the same power but look how much smaller it got sicne PS2 was released, i know they have different hardware but still can shrink in size
They probably will but it will never get to PS2 slim size unless they change to a proprietary hard-drive instead of the standard 2.5 inch hard-drives and use an external power supply.
If the technology permits it, they could. At this time I don't think it is a feasible option. I could be wrong though.

2 versions of the DS, and one upcoming. 3 versions of the PSP have been released, so not necessarily sure how only Nintendo does it.
Sony is the only one that releases new versions of their console beyond the top-loader NES from Nintendo. That's about it.
I just hope so in the near future (in 2009). Would be great with a cheaper price tag.
I also hope Sony will bring back Backward Compatibility (keeping fingers crossed). 8)
That's a great idea. Drop the blu ray and make it slim, for like $179. Bingo vertical climb on charts! They did that with the ps1, and ps2 do you guys think there gonna do it with ps3? It also would be great idea to start off with a fresh console that is cheap and has a good libary.

no, why would they?!DjCristii
...cuts cost, people like smaller consoles, less power needed, looks better, fits in more places in your setup, easier to carry around, etc...

They're not going to create a version of their system that doesn't play the majority of the PS3 library. They did that with the ps1, and ps2 do you guys think there gonna do it with ps3?
