At this point in time do believe Sony is failing with the ps3 in sales and in gaming? Im not talking about what might happen in the future, im talking about here and now, do you think sonys objectives for there ps3 brand have been tarnished?ParadiddleFillsony am fool
They're not doing as good as everyone thought they would be doing, but no I don't think they're failing.

How can you say "here and now" when the genration isn't over "here and now." Si9mple ignorant answeer to the dumbest question of the day: Yes, PS3 is losing now. But who gives a shshsh? Great games are starting to come in for the PS3. Lair or not. And they will have a price drop, with a new SKU, to get it to $399. And when they do, there's an army of PS2 owners just waiting.
You people don't think Sony knows what they're doing? This is their third console. One after their most successful, record breaking, still selling more than 360 generation. They're doing fine. The tables are turning slowly. And by spring of '08 it will come full circle. That's right, 360.Three hundred and sixty degress back for MS when they sit second fiddle to Sony.
I think I need to repeat this: SONY PS2 is still outselling 360 in many, many areas.
I can see them getting looked over this holiday season, again. Halo 3 for the 360 brings a large crowd, Mario and SSBB draws another crowed to the Wii. PS3? A bunch of unproven franchise's that the casuals don't know about. Not good.
No not really. I don't remember the 360 doing that much better in it's first year than Sony is doing now, and Microsoft had no competition at the time. I'm not bashing the 360. I have both systems, so I don't care which one fails if either of them do.g_hartIt doesn't matter if the PS3 is selling at the same level as the Xbox did in it's first months. It's not surpassing it. The Playstation 3 has failed to live up to Sony's expectations and for me that says FAIL all over it.
Could it change in the future? Sure when the heavy hitters of the Playstation gaming world finally coem otu but until then it is failing.

I don't see Halo 3 bringing big sales to 360, I think all those who want Halo 3 bought their 360 months ago. Same with the Wii, I don't see SSBB driving up sales. They are already high as it is.

Where did this rumor start? The "they all own the system already" rumor.Play Halo 2 on XBL. Go see how many people are still playing that game on the old Xbox. Then ask them why they don't have a 360 yet. No Halo. Why would Halo fans buy a system that does not have a single Halo game on it?
I also know a ton of people who are waiting for Halo 3 on the 360. I am sure there are more out there then just the handful I know. There is going to be a nice spike in 360 sales for Halo 3.

Why are they still playing Halo 2? Because it's a really fun online game thats why. A majority of 360 owners bought their 360 with Halo 3 in mind.
If anybody actually thinks Sony is meeting it's objectives with the PS3's performance, you are sorely lacking in common sense in logic. The PS3 is not doomed, and if sony does everything right from now, the PS3 can still be a success, but IT IS FAILING to meet the objectives/goals/expectations that I'm sure Sony had for the PS3 as well as most of the gaming community. There is no room for opinion on that, it's so clear that it's basically fact. Zerostatic0
You don't know the objectives but you're sure they didn't meet them. Is that right? And no other console maker as been under achieving? Didn't we get some news a month or two back about Xbox losing its arms and legs with the 360? Something like billions of dollars for warranty. Yeah, I'm sure they planned that!!
Not failing , just flopping.
High price right now , very few exclusives out right now , no system sellers out yet , and the competition finally got its stuff together and are improving in their own ways. Sony can rectifymost of those things but they can't really control what the competition does. I actually think it is going to be better for all gamers involved including playstation fans. Sony is going to have bring even more content than in the past (which was excellent btw). Everyone one wins with Sony's slow start. (except a few game pubs/devs).
Until Sony makes a 120fps game with living environments (4D?) which plays in 1080p and has graphics which are better than the 360, then I'd say that Sony lives up to their promises.
...just kidding, but I still think Sony promised a lot more than they're giving right now.
Right here, right now, I think even Sony themselves would have to say that they are not where they want to be in the market this generation. Personally, I think Sony overestimated the brand loyalty of gamers and they also overestimated BluRays influence on both gaming and movie watching to this point! Imo, $500-600 is simply too much for the average family to spend on a piece of entertainment especially since the whole mantra of the PS3 is HD!!! Most homes still do not have a HDTV for which to take advantage of what BluRay offers!
If you take away multiplats, the PS3's line up is actually quite poor to this point as well! The only PS3 exclusives right now that are worth buying the system for would be RFoM and Warhawk and those are not system sellers Imo! I just dont see how the PS3 is going to increase its market presense until it gets some of its key games into the market place. Those Imo are KZ 2, MGS 4, UT 3, LBP, GT 5, Ratchet and Clankand FF XIII. The majority of those games will not be out until mid to late2008 and by then, it will be too late for Sony. Imo, they simply cannot competet with MS or Nintendo on the price front and Sony simply doesnt have the exclusives that the PS2 relied on last generation!! I mean look at the multiplats that used to be PS1/PS2 exclusive franchises....Resident Evil, GTA, DMC and VF. These franchises were all key to the successes of the PS1/PS2 and now they are being shared with other consoles!!
Well, I personally don't think that anyone that's not a blind Cow would believe taht the Ps3 even stands a chance of becoming a powerful gaming console. This of course, includes the people that developed the Ps3. Their objective with the Ps3 was not gaming but it was to make them win the next Dvd format war. Now, if HD-DVD prevails then Sony will lose out on their objectives. But having it become a successful game console was never their intention.Nonam3gamer
Well my friend!! You are the one who is blind! HD-DVD is basicaly dead now....more and more companies are going blu-ray exclusive. PS3 is not failing!! It's a great gameing machine and a cheap blu-ray player. There is nothing you can do about it. When the truly great games come out (MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, FF, GT5) than the PS3 will take over the 360 and maybe the Wii as well or go very close!! You'll see!!

its it getting on ur nerves? cuz ps3's failing?
PS1 was right place right time. PS2 only got popular because of the ps1 and got heaps of support and people believed all the lies. Now PS3 is flopping big time, right where it diserves to be. $600, hard to develop for and underpowered, can't get enough support etc. -it's a disasterjudge__judy
companys already said the ps3 isnt hard to develop for, and the ps3 has a lot of support.
you fail.

As of right now, Hell yeah they are failing. They've sold an "ok" amount of consoles but compared to the 360, and Wii and Sony's previous consoles, the PS3 is doing crap.
It's a shame coz I want a PS3 at some point but so far it doesn't seem worth it.
I don't think Sony is failing. However, they are not in neither first or second places in term of system sales.
from the gaming side..there definately having problems. so far they have failed to justify that price tag. games dont really look better (sometimes they look worse) and they dont play better than the 360 versions. in temrs of exclusives.....theres just nothing there that makes ppl shell out 500-600 (not saying theres no good exclusives...just nothing that makes ppl want to pay the asking price). why bother when theres a machine that does the same job for less money? until sony justify that price tag or they lower it so that its closer to their competitors....there going to have probs throughout this gen.
as for other matters? well the PS3 definatley puts a bigger level of confidence in blu-ray. more ppl have blu-ray players compared to HD-DVD. if HD-DVD pulls out and Blu-ray becomes the standard then it doesnet really matter what happens to the PS3 (though its victory would make the PS3 a more tempting offer indeed). so far that element looks like it will be successful unless the HD-DVD guys can pull something off.
as for cell? chances are the cell has no future outside the PS3, much like the emotion engine. intel and AMD (and even ibm) have made very sure that the cell wont get any major fothold in the server or workstation markets. its a shame sony werent more agressive in promoting and developing it....its a very interesting technology. it would be interesting to see what would happen if sony released a desktop processor to compete with the like of intel.
but thats other matters not related to games. from a gaming perspective.....sony have a crap load of work to do to increase the quality of their games and increase their userbase size. if they dont then 3rd parties will start walking.

Children, stop. Please. You're the reason there is a System Wars (that's not a good thing).
So far no one here has provided links or a well-thoughout argument.
