What makes the PS3 a failure? there are good games in the future right?

if ur third in a race with 4+ laps and the race is only on lap 1, only an idoit says you failed.
PS3 isn't doomed at this time.
Its following the trend of the first two Sony consoles. Slow sales to start, most in the end. The only difference this time is that the development costs are a big problem. We've heard grumblings from 3rd parties about their reconsidering support. We've also seen many exclusives go multiplat. It'll all depend on if Sony can increase the sales throughout 2007 and into 2008.
The most crucial thing for sony is that (kick. punch.) its all in the mind. People are thinking that its going to bomb, well if they think that then they wont buy it and it WILL bomb.

I have both consoles.
But I would hate to see my 600$ console go down the drain like the Dreamcast because of my 399$ console is beating the tard out of it. I want console equlity./

LMAO nice!
as for the PS3, cows can spam the same up-comming games all they like....given the way the economy in the U.S is doing.. and the global economy for that matter people are beginin to be more conservative with their money..... the fact remains there are simply too many parents, and gamers our there that are not going to pay $600 for a system... period.. Probably not even $500.

That and this time Sony has not one but two serious competitors.

except that ms is on lap two going on lap three and ran by sony and nintendo when they where still at the starting line. sony didn't help themselves much when they tied their shoes together and let nintendo get off the line on a segway, but then again, nintedo is running a different race *cough* special olympics *cough*.

Lol, that's one way to put it.
Well there are 3 major problems with the PS3, price, games and features:
Price: $600 is too expensive for many people, especially when the console has (at least right now) little percieved value due to the lack of games and the unneccessary BR player (it looks pretty but its not the leap foreward like DVD was). When the other two problems are fixed then price becomes less of an issue but still, being the most expensive console (by far) is not a good start.
Games: Other than Resistance and to a degree Motorstorm there is very little in terms of exclusive games out to get excited about. The 360 launched with major titles like PGR3, PDZ, Kameo and was quickly followed up by titles like Oblivion, DoA 4 and GRAW. The PS3 right now has had other than the aforementioned Resistance and Motorstorm nothing (if you wanted oblivion you'd have bought a 360 or PC), and that trend seems to be continuing into July where the questionable Lair comes out. Simply put, the PS3 is not selling as a game console, which leads to the last point...
Features: Now most people think the PS3's features are its strong point. I disagree. For one while the "cheap BR player" label has sold units, I think its turned off a number of potential buyers as well. There is very little market penetration for HDTVs, so there is no need for the jump to an HD format, as shown by the downright poor sales of both HD-DVD and BR players. Why spend $600 on the "true HD experience" when you're going to be hooking it up to a 27" 480i TV? On that note, there are a number of people (myself included) who aren't going to touch either format until ones piling up beside the betamax players at the local dump.
Also there are features like built in wireless, card readers, folding@home, free online, web browser etc. Are the cool features? Absolutely, but competely unneccessary. They sound cool and you might even use them, but they are in no way system sellers.
And you misspelled the word, well, misspelled while making fun of someone for misspelling a word.. The irony is delicious.

pundog
I don't think "features" should be listed there. The reason why "features" is a problem is because it raises the price which you already listed as a problem. The BlueRay player is great and if they could make the same system for $300 bucks with a BlueRay player everyone and their dog would buy it.

That's the total consoles from all 3 companies last gen, and then the total consoles so far this gen. I'm just saying there's a long way to go. 10:7:3 is hardly domination or clear superiorityi guess i should have been clearer
It isnt doomed and by releasing the Ps3 with Blu-ray they incresed sales of there HD T.V's and Blu-rays all towards a brighter future for sony!!!!!
It's only been out a bit and just wait till September onwards. I am a sony fan-boy.
I think we will be the second or third best seller over the chrismas period with the wii or wii/ds beating us. (YOU HAVE TO BE REALISTIC!!!!!)

well it's gonna pick up around 2-3 years from now when all three have price drops.

I hope not I've paid 600$ for that thing........:(
I'm mentally and emtionally invested now. I have no choice but to defend that POS.
Even though my Xbox 360 is rocking ass right now.

same here. but it would be traumatic to spend 600$ plus tax on a console and watch it go the ways of the Dreamcast.....
Its so to early to tell that it not worth talking about Microsoft made the right move and released early and with the help of a few killer apps hooked people on their system. At the moment most of the games that are available on the PS3 are on the 360 aswell and your going to have a hard time convincing anyone to buy another console especially when its an expensive piece of technology, to play a game you can play on a console that you all ready have...
I say wait till games such as FF , GT5 and MGS come out then we will have a more clearer view on which side it will fall on
