[QUOTE="ReverseCycology"][QUOTE="iunderstand"] At E305 Sony showed off a lot of fake representations of what was supposed to be the capabilities of the Playstation 3's hardware luring many naive devlopers into thinking this was the next big thing. Fast forward 1 year later and Sony shows off the real PS3 priced at $600 with downgraded hardware and a downgraded controller.
The complex programming on the hardware caused many publishers to spend exorbitant amounts of money attempting to live up to Sony's unrealistic expectations with the hopes of being able to make up that money off of the excitement of the PS3's launch. Needless to say, the launch was a disaster and many publishers are trying to make up profits by porting their games over to the 360.
The high price of the Playstation 3 is not benefiting Sony, publishers or consumers. Sony's phony promises trapped a lot of naive publishers and now they are afraid to release their content as they won't be able to make enough money off of the current userbase.
Why are people continuing to support Sony after their greedy attempts to push their blu-ray format into unsuspecting households have ended up screwing over hard working developers as a result?

First of all, WTH happened to Britney Spears, lol. Anyway, I think greed has a lot to do with it. Sure other companies like Microsoft, EA, etc. are greedy but with Sony's PS3 just shows they're the most greedy. They wanted to be number 1 in the video gaming business so bad, that they'll put anything in their console like (blu-ray, blue-tooth, tilt sensor, home built cell processor) just to get oohs and aahs from consumers looking at the specs. Unfortunately, these things are why the PS3 is dead last this next-gen.
Also Sony's greed caused them to lose tons of game exclusives. They probably thought, hey we're number 1 with the PS2 so game developers will jump aboard with us for the PS3, unfortunately that's not the case. They didn't want to pay for exclusives so so developers look at other consoles for real profits. Also they were so greedy they didn't even want to pay up for the rumble-feature at first. But they learned their lesson, maybe. So that's why they lost $2 billion dollars!
selling a console at a $200 lost is real greedy. sony lost exclusives with the ps2, mgs and gta were put on other consoles. it is nothing new. Sony...greedy?
How much is XBL? Now how much is PSN? Oh and when Epic wanted to release free maps on Gears....it was sony who told MS to tell Epic they need to charge their fans because it make them get used to paying for things, which fits their business model?
GTFO...
