From what I've gathered, Hideo Kojima has quite a bit more influence over his own games and the platforms they go to than the company that publishes them (Konami). Does the same hold true for Tetsuya Nomura in relation to Square Enix, or is it much more different then some people are letting on?

Does it really matter? And why make your own thread when there's one related to this in another?

Yes you can say they are basically on the same boat. I think Nomura has a little bit more influence. I give props to these 2 men staying loyal to Sony like they were the past 2 gens. Despite Sony messing up a lot. Everybody else ditched Sony and went multi.

Well Kojima has his own studio, Kojima Productions, which is funded by Konami.

Nomura works for Square Enix, which is just Square Enix, and it's huge

Thats true, Kojima does have his own studio.

Question: Does Kojima own the rights to the MGS franchise or does Konami? (Seriously, I'm not sure)

Sorry. I just wanted to straighten things out for that thread by creating a more specific one concerning the influence of certain creators over their own games.

A developers influence over where a game goes is just that, influence, in the end the Publisher makes the decision where a game goes. Taking the developers influence into account.

I think it is kind've different because Kojima has his own Studio which happens to be owned Konami Kojima can still make Decisions on which Console his games go to. But Nomura is an Employee of Square Enix so I think he has no say in which console his games go to if he had his own studio that worked with Square then I think he could make a decision.

I think they both own the rights to it so if Kojima's company goes to another company like gets sold they will have the rights to all the games they made for Konami.

Yea, he didn't say it like that, what he said was he wants to keep MGS4 PS3 exclusive and make other games for the other systems.

I think kojima productions owns the franchise now, but they choose KONAMI publish it for them.

I think it ultimately belongs to Konami because Kojima Productions is a Konami subsidiary and because the concept of Metal Gear was first created under Konami's roof.
