So I wouldn't mind placing a 360 slim next to my PS3 slim for the price of 200 dollars but I need to know if it is worth it. I refuse to pay 200 dollars for a new system if it is not worth it. So to those who have bought it may you please help me out here without being a "fanboy" and give me some help to make my decision and please be honest. Thanks everyone!

I think it, but you need to make a pros and con sheet for your own to find out for yourself. I can't make a decision for you, I don't know the genres you enjoy and your tastes.

Could you edit your post TC so you can include your tastes in gaming

I like both of them. I mean if you have the money and time to play the exclusives. Yeah it's a good purchase. You have a good library of games to play from the release till now.

First thing you need to realize is it'll cost you a lot more then that. You'll want a harddrive for map packs and content, then you'll want xbox live, that's a yearly fee, then you'll probably want a headset that does not come with the arcade, then mayne an extra controller etc etc. Your going to end up wasting a lot more then 200. And honestly with the future of the 360... I think it would be a better move buying PS3 games, maybe pick up the Move controller, that would kind of be like buying an HD wii. That's what I would do.

Value depends on the person's opinion. Just weigh out the goods and bads of buying it and make a decision.

Only 4gb of internal flash memory. So unless you don't plan on getting arcade games, I can't see why it's worth it. I think the $300 is a much better deal if you can shell out the extra cash

I'd say a 360 is worth $200. My problem with the $200 model is that if you are serious about the 360, it makes more sense getting at least a 120gig one. The added space gets rid of space constraints--you can essentially download as many xbox live arcade games as you want, demos, and game installs supposedly add to the longevity of the console. You could always buy the $200 model and then add the overpriced HD, but thats just silly. This is how Microsoft somewhat pigeon-holes people into buying the $300 model.

Don't forget the addition of $50 for LIVE, which really is essential to enjoy the 360--Halo, Madden, Netflix, etc.

Play & Charge kit for 15$ each for each of your controllers.
Propiatary Headsets for the console which god knows how much they cost.
HDMI cable.
As pointed out earlier, additional fees for XBL.
You might want to reserve an extra $200 for when your games get scratched so you can rebuy them.

Enjoy your 360 purchase.

Factor in a bigger harddrive and XBL Gold if you want to play online. If you're going to go with any 360 go with the higher priced models.

Starting a thread asking whether to purchase a system or not on system wars was a bad idea. Sony fanboys of course jumped first and started preaching about the almighty god that is triple and how the 360 is more expensive.

or you could just buy rechargeable batteries?

and there are plenty of 3rd party headsets... but the 360 comes with a free headset... so you dont need to buy one. (EDIT: nm just checked guess the 4gb doesnt come with a headset... not that you need it to play games)

HDMI cables cost 2 bucks. And frankly its just a good idea to have a few extras lying around, i know i do.

i have also never had to rebuy a game once, never had a disc even remotely scratched. The only scratched game i have is one that i bought used... it looks like someone used sandpaper on it, and the thing still works fine.

clearly you dont own a 360.

I was going to recommend the 360, but I wanted to check your profile real quick just to see what kind of games you're into. Couldn't help but notice you gave Madden NFL 11 an 8.0 for the PS3 version, and a 1.0 for the 360 version. Really?

If I was thinking about getting it how am I being Bias? Do I have opinion YES, just like everyone else. When I seen the 200 dollar price tag I was seeing if it was worth it because I refuse to pay anymore for a 360. Do I think the PS3 is a better system all around? Yes I do but was still thinking of adding a 360 to my collection if the 200 dollar model was worth it. Thank you very much

what i'm saying is that the ps3 guys are so desperate for sales they will do anything to either stop someone from buying a 360 or to sell a ps3.

does that make it any easier for you to understand?

sometimes i forget my audience and gloss over the part where i need to lead them by the hand to understand a concept.

Isn't that exactly what the play & charge kit is? Rechargable accu or some sort? It's far better than having regular regargable batteries...they don't hold as much charge and deterioate much faster over time. Scratching is a far more common issue that you are lead to believe. Because you didn't experience it, doesn't mean he wont. I can show you proof via YT vids that disc scratching occurs in regular use.

I would have recommended the console though. The more games you have access to, the better. You also have options when it comes to the multi-platform games.

I have 2 systems the 2nd being a 360, got the arcade a few months ago before the new slime announce. I did buy a 60gig HDD not long after since I did want a few games from market place and a couple of HD tv episodes. but the new 1 with the 4gig flash is enough to at least start playing some disc based games.

the xbox battery packs deteriorate over time as well (all rechargeable batteries do), they are standard NiMH rechargeable batteries im pretty sure... only they can be recharged via the console usb.

I actually prefer having removable battery packs, because i leave a set of batteries charging while im playing, and switch them if they die. Wtih my Ps3 i have to put my controller down and wait for the thing to recharge since the cord is 2 feet long.

EDIT: i know its easy to buy a longer cable for the PS3, but i figured i would take a page out of your playbook and act like there isnt a simple solution.

[QUOTE="fastr"]IT's easily worth it. Better multiplat versions, better exclusives. Ignore hte people saying, oh the future of the 360.. it's ahead of the ps3, always has been, they're just some crazy fanboys. hkymike

oh!

forever irony...

@Fastr That is complete BS. 360 is not ahead of Sony at all. Better exclusive? Better Multiplayer?....Haha Ok dude. Anyhow like I sad in the previous post I've made my decision. Thanks to those who were un-bias

LOL, the gap is still like 5k, so I guess being in last really means first when concerning Sony right? I own both systems, the 360 exclusives are better, I don't care what score a game got, they're simple better. and it's widely known the multiplats are better, arguing that is just simple stupid. @sionpt - when did I use the word cheap? a PS3 isn't exactly cheap either, and it doesn't have as good games, so whats your point?

No, unfortunately. They do these kinds of things based off of the (amount of) complaints they receive about products. I am guessing the Slim is the same. There were no revisions made concerning the DVD drive -still no rubber protector- so you can only hope the console itself is more vibration-resistant because sure as hell the dvd drive isn't.

You are lucky my friend. Or you live in those special anti-quake houses japan is know for. IDKLocutus_Picard
It has nothing to do with living in a special house. Disc-scratching is practically a non-issue. Most of the times is the user's fault.

If it has a Hard Drive and a Controller then YES IT'S WORTH IT.

hkymike
Only 4gb of internal flash memory. So unless you don't plan on getting arcade games, I can't see why it's worth it. I think the $300 is a much better deal if you can shell out the extra cash

Yeah very true and I am not willing to pay that much for a 360, not worth it in my eyes. Thanks

4GB is more than enough if you have a usb flash drive or two plugged into your X360 as well

You may own both systems however, I'm still waiting on you to provide that PSN ID that supposedly you played all the PS3 exclusives on since the last one you gave me only had you playing Infamous. With the amount of games you had on that account you could have easily created it at a friends house or something.

Nah, I just don't believe fanboys who bash exclusives and then give out PSN ID's where they've only played one exclusive. No, last time you said you don't go online with your PS3 so get your story straight eh.
