cause this generation is far from over?KevinButlerVPBut MS already won, so did Nintendo, and Sony is starting to as well. MS sold more than 15 million more units than their last unit, has been making a profit for about 3 years, it's been good for them. Nintendo has sold so many Wiis, that even they were surprised. Sony is finally starting to make some money on their entertainment division.

It's more interesting to wonder why it's still going on considering the Wii won a long time ago.
That's true but why are people still so into this as if its life or death. All this seems like old news.
Sales mean nothing. By your logic, Wii play is one of the greatest games ever to exist.I suppose it'll be relevant to those trying to make the object of their affection look like "teh winner" until new shiney consoles come out andit starts all over again.
Other than that the only real news relevant are:
Nintendo is still a dominant force to be reckoned with, long after many had declared them irrelevant and heading towards oblivion.
Microsoft is a serious competitor in the gaming industry, even though pundits declared them a failure a generation ago.
Sony isn't invincible, depite the analysts that claimed differently, and finds itself in a real competition for the first time since they entered the market over 15 years ago.
...and you're right. Most people could have figured these out a couple years ago.

Whatever you say. Winners have always been decided by who sells the most but since it's the Wii, let's throw that rule out the window. I love the little island that be System Wars.

Yes but to many the wii game wise doesn't match the gaming library of the other consoles... it wasn't the same during the PS2 era where it dominated in both sales dans games, PS1, Snes, Nes...I suppose it'll be relevant to those trying to make the object of their affection look like "teh winner" until new shiney consoles come out andit starts all over again.

Sales mean nothing. By your logic, Wii play is one of the greatest games ever to exist. Sales mean a lot actually, Wii got MH3 because of it. And this generation has been shaped because of the best selling games (MW2, Wii fit). So yes, sales are definitely important.sales have not been the rules of sw, you have to realize the ps2 did sell the most but it was the winner on sw because of its quality titles.......Microsoft1234Agreed. Just because all the kiddies got a Wii for christmas doesn't make it a good console.

I thought we are talking console sales here, not game sales. Either way, sales are objective and the quality of a game is subjective. I know people who highly enjoy Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 for the PlayStation 3 (54% on Metacritic) for crying out loud but they call Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for the PlayStation 2 (87% on Metacritic) a bad game. I find it hard to accept, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

DVD playback, ease of piracy, and low durability had nothing to do with it, I'm sure. :P

Sales mean a lot to a gamer for several reasons, true. People who just think that you must own stock in the company to care about sales amuse me every time (although we haven't had anybody say such things in a while to my knowledge, unfortunately, for it'd be easy ownage).

Been an odd gen IMO since there is no clear winner.
Sure Wii won sales but it seems to me MS, N & Sony have gained in some area & lost in others but yeah, no doubt that Sony seems to have lost the most making next gen even harder to predict. :P

I don't see a problem in that either, most fans cheer when their favorite sports team wins a match yet most of them get nothing out of it. Why is that so different from what fans are doing here?BTW have you seen Alan Wake ?

How about the weekly, monthly, and yearly sales threads? How about people undermining consoles by pointing to lacklustre sales? How about "Sony and Microsoft fighting for second place"? How about "The PS3 is only 5 million behind the Xbox 360 now"? Sales decide the winner. The island of System Wars should be no exception to this, and it seemingly isn't.

Like Alan Wake's graphics, that's a fresh topic. :P
oh what now that PS3 is about to take its crown back ppl think its irrelavent? surprise surprise. Exclusive_Count
It will still be a while before the PlayStation 3 surpasses the Xbox 360 in sales and in order for the PlayStation 3 to take its crown back, it would need to surpass both the Xbox 360 as well as the Wii in sales.
