What total bullshit that there are no official reviews out for this game. It's beyond sketchy. I have friends that keep telling me to get it but, I don't know, I didn't really care for either beta.

I checked out customer reviews on Amazon, seems it's getting an average between 3-4 stars. Tons of my PSN friends are playing it and some of my XBL friends are too. I DONT KNOW.

Has anyone here bought it? What do you guys think? Is it repetitive and grindy, or is it a total fun blast of co-op worth the full price? I kind of feel this game will be 30-40 bucks in a month or two. Can see the player pool dropping down relatively fast once uninformed consumers buy it and realize it's more of an RPG than a shooter.

@primorandomguy: neither am I. there aren't enough reviews to trust metacritic.

The single player/co-op in the beta was okay, but its not like theres going to be any detailed story elements or character development like an Uncharted or Last of Us. Also, since its mission based, its probably going to get repetitive fast because A.) its Ubisoft, their mission design is always shitty and 2.) mission designed games can only be so varied anyways before becoming repetitive, boring, shallow

Also the dark zone is a snore fest.

Overall I just dont think its worth 60. I would need some serious convincing otherwise at this point from people who have legit played the game for more than a couple hours on my friends list, messaging me saying "omg its awesome!!"

@jcrame10: I agree, doesn't help most gamers have shit opinions. I think Destiny also left a poor taste in my mouth. It's like can anyone make a decent mmorpg shooter? Also I agree no story elements or character development would make me lose interest fast. And yeah Ubis mission design hasn't been good in quite a while, same with their open worlds. I'm all aboard with you on the skepticism and negativity. Lol but I haven't played it either. Let's see what people are saying about the game a week from now.

Guess it depends on how you estimate the value and how much is 60$ worth to you.

I dont regret buying it as my friends wanted to play it and it's quite fun in group, I would however not buy it for singleplayer

If it has replay value that will have you grinding away for months like Destiny then I'd imagine so.

Don't pay $60 for any game. Full price is for suckers.

Patience pays off and there are always deals/sales to be found.

I don't regret buying it but I regret getting the gold version with season pass.

It's a fun game but I anticipate my interest in the game will wane in a few days.

Edit : Yep, Adobe Artist is correct, and it's something I have had to suffer time and time again, don't pay full price ($60) for games, it's rarely ever worth it in terms of price/fun ratio.

Long term gamers can't be paying full price.

Game is decent, I've enjoyed it so far. I'm only lvl 3 and pretty much at the beginning. I only get minimum time but I've been hampered by lag and shots not registering or being put in a que of 300+ before entering into the game. Then this morning servers were offline. So I'm guessing most reviewers are holding off until the issues are ironed out. In general though the game is decent and Co op with friends and randoms is fun.

The game isn't that bad....and I've done all the missions so far alone. So I guess it's only partially multiplayer.

One thing cool I've noticed is either the AI or just the way the maps are set up the enemies seem to not be too dumb. They have their moments of course.

But just now I played a mission where I had 2 elites fighting me so I put up my turret and instead of being stupid like some games as long as that turret was firing on the one elite he kept his ass in cover. Your turret only has so long to last so I figured if it's going to keep him down I'd flank him and I threw a tear gas grenade by him which made him stand up and struggle and the turret and I took him down.

The AI isn't as much as just sit back and just pop their heads out of cover from 20ft away and take pot shots at you. At least not all the time. Maybe it's the different enemy types Bc in that scenario there was one huge elite with a lot of armor and health who slowly would chase me with a flame thrower that fucking reaches 30ft. So while I'm running from him other smaller enemies come in in waves so I really had to watch all me angles.

I like the game. Figuring out good weapon power/health/skill power balance is nice which is done through gear and weapons and weapon mods.

hardly rushed out, you don't need to play an entire game to know how good it is. I knew how good this game was after a couple of hours, it got better after that but it also got worse. Still, in the end my average score ( that I would have given the game) stayed about the same.

Having said that, a site like this that doesn't have any reviewers that can score this game after a day feels like amateurism. If they are scared to give a review score that's way off after playing this game for a full day, then you're not very good at your job. I've been gaming over 30 years now and no game is going to take me by surprise after playing a full day.

It's either that or they have been paid by ubi to postpone a review score.

Or it could also be that they just want a complete review, but really, a complete review is nice but if you can't release it within a couple of days within the worldwide release of a game, it's better to do a shorter review. Now a lot of people are waiting to play this game till they have finished it.

They could have easily used one and a half day to play, and then another half day to write the review. That's 2 days and more than enough, yet the game has been released almost a week ago and still no review.

The reason I say the reviews are rushed is because games like The Division and Destiny are held to different standards than game like Uncharted, The Witcher or any other single player narrative-focused game. This type of game is supposed to have replay value that lasts well beyond an initial playthrough. Whether the end game content is satisfactory is big component of the score in my opinion. If The Division is boring to play with your friends after a week or two it's not worth $60 imo. I holding out for as much feedback as possible before my 20 percent discount through Amazon Prime expires.

You can establish that replay value quite fast. Besides the end game content is really not that far off, if you're good at games you can rush to that. Of course if you want play this game laid back, taking it easy, then you shouldn't be reviewing games. This is their job. Heck I saw people online that were way higher in level than the people reviewing this game, which is ridiculous.

The reviewer that reviewed destiny is not a very good reviewer as well. Of course the game has it flaws but if you can't see that this game was way more worth a 6 then you're not very objective. I only played destiny for like 8 hours, spread out over numerous days. I wasn't a big fan of the game, but I would have given the game an 8 at least.

Also, you're talking about sites that you never heard from before, but do realize that these sites have professional reviewers as well. You really think people from france, germany, poland, spain and pretty much any other country where they don't understand english very well are going to go to an english site to read reviews. Of course not, and that doesn't mean those reviews are written by morons, there are a lot of people that don't speak/understand english that have just as high standards as you.

Those reviewers would be the laughing stock in their own country if they wrote crappy reviews.

Coming from someone who's lvl 25 and have put almost 27 hours into the game, it's worth the price tag.

Pros:

  • Probably one of Ubi's best games in recent memory (ok maybe the last few years), i know it's really not a pro but they've been lackluster lately and The Division feels like a classic Ubi game.
  • Slick Ui, probably one of the best Ui's in a video game I've ever seen.
  • Amazing Matchmaking
  • Immersive world, probably one of the best game worlds set in a modern setting. Seriously I love finding echos, helping random citizens, doing any mission in any order, finding cell phones of random people to put together what happened before/during the outbreak and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
  • Even playing on the PS4 the game looks amazing, i really wanna double dip abd get in on PC to see it run on my 970.
  • Amazing co-op
  • A progression system that isn't a pain in the arse.
  • This is mostly a pro for me in general, but going through the missions a 2 days ago I thought to myself "man it would be awesome if they had a Batman Arkham type lvl", what happens a few mins later during a mission. That mission was just so hnnnnggggh cause it was a Tom Clancy meets Batman Arkham type of mission and it was bad ass doing it co-op.

Cons:

  • Missions can be repetitive.
  • I'm gonna say I despise the Dark Zone cause after a certain lvl, it's almost impossible to do it solo tell you get best in slot gear or close to it.
  • Being a Rogue can be a pain in the arse and actually makes you not want to go rogue in the Dark Zone.
  • No offline mode
  • Poor character customization
  • Hard modes (not challenge modes) are not even rewarding to do

I'm really enjoying it so far. Hoping I don't end up like I did with destiny where I just couldn't get on a team and it got too hard solo. I bought the gold version and I hope I don't end up regretting it. Third person shooters I tend to like more than fps so that was a big plus for me too. I'm kinda picky what I play with my rare moments of spare time and don't regret this game at all, yet. I think it's one of those games you'll either really like or really dislike. Try it out and if your not into it trade it in. Not fair to say it sucks because that's not true

you NEVER wait to buy a game on console that is online with no single player OR splitscreen coop..WHY? because people that game on console tend to jump from game to game super fast leaving you with a game that nobody will be playing. The longer you wait, the less you'll enjoy..so might as well buy it.

No but it's worth about 30$ which is what I'll pay

Glad I'm sitting this one out. The Division is way overpriced.

you NEVER wait to buy a game on console that is online with no single player OR splitscreen coop..WHY? because people that game on console tend to jump from game to game super fast leaving you with a game that nobody will be playing. The longer you wait, the less you'll enjoy..so might as well buy it.

If it is worth $60 people will still be playing it months later. If it is dead after a week a two it wasn't worth it. My backlog is so ridiculous and I can't see this game being worth jumping to the front of queue.

The grind is strong in The Division. It's quite similar to Destiny in a number of respects, design-wise, which carries both the good and bad connotations.

It may be a game worth playing in a few months, but I'm comfortable waiting for some additional content drops before I entertain the thought of a purchase.

It's really simple. Got friends to play it with? Then get it. Co-op is awesome.

I put about 22hrs in it and I'm only a lvl 14. There's so much content in the game that just keeps you immersed. Sure some of it is a bit repetitive but what game isn't?. The DZ is where it gets insane. That's definitely a place where you don't want to be a lone wolf. It's pretty cool cause you can run into other players and pretty much link up with them to get high end gear/weapons. But as you would know you can betray and take all their loot that hasn't been extracted at the extraction point. This game is definitely worth $60.

The grind isn't close to Destiny's lvl, specially vanilla Destiny. The RNG gods suck arse in Destiny compared to The Division, the Divisions loot grind is more of a Diablo 3 (2.1 version) grind.

If you play on PC you can always get those 20% discount codes from Uplay shop with Uplay points. Everyone wants to hate Uplay, but I have to give it to Ubi for giving people some rewards for completing achievements.

I was on the fence about it. I ended up getting it for 30 dollars from GS after trading in TLoU (which is the only game I had that was a physical copy for my PS4). It is a solid title. It reminds me of Destiny in that grinding for gear is daunting. For the amount I paid for it, I'm happy.

...you said most gamers opinions are shit. That implies narcissistic tendencies HA!

oh and idc, but now you know. Your opening statement is another way of saying, "Only my opinion is important."

Narcissism:

erotic gratification derived from admiration of one's own physical or mental attributes, being a normal condition at the infantile level of personality development.

Get it now?
