I'd get the PS2 because it is a hell of a lot cheaper, and the PS3 isn't YET an essential buy unless you're after a blue ray player imo.

Why play cheap and get a PS2 when you can just play It smart and buy a PS3

PS2 is about ready to finish its Life span PS3 just started. All PS2's must have games are about ready to progress to PS3. And heck about all great PS2 games are playable on PS3

So I ask why play cheap and get PS2??????  Think long term people

As far as we know, yes it is. But which should you buy? Isn't the answer blatantly obvious? The PS3 plays both kinds of games and won't be abandoned within the next two years.
