As a Lemming, I'd say that the PS3 is more powerful, but the visuals that the 360 gives me is more than enough to keep me happy.
Uncharted is the best looking console game and came out in the first year of the Ps3. I'm not going to claim Ps3 is more powerful, but so far it's got a clear advantage.Chutebox
from what though? the devs.
On paper yes, but until someone actually finds out how to really utilize te power we will never know.
Chances are its a yes. But the only developers that will use this to make better looking games will probebly be run by sony, like KZ and FF.

Square-Enix is not runned by Sony.
..... the most powerful console on the market, or is sony telling us crap? I just checked out unchartered today and it looked beautiful, but not as impresive as cows hype it to be. I even heard a fanboy claim it was better looking than Crysis, but it barely beats gears(with the textures and lighting). So how is it more powerful than te 360?bigevil_rashek
you are starting to see the light.and to answere the question.of course Sony lied!! Why would sony or anyother company put down there products! if you want to know about the hardware of sumthing always rely on a third party.

agreed, but the difference is so small. i have no doubt uncharted can be done on 30.

It can sure, but I think it would be a good amount of degrade involved. Like, I don't think 360 would be able to do the 0 load times because lack of disc space. If I'm correct, that's how they did it?

nope, loading times might even be faster.. dvd is faster than blu ray and Uncharted didn't have a HDD install (good job by the way)

nah, i don't see a huge leap at all (although i agree that it's the best looking console title so far).

Sarcasm?(I think I now know what you meant, but not 100%).
What I'm referring to is that there is no load times in Uncharted and I thought they did that by utilizing the disc space. I'm not trying to just pick on 360 here.

Chutebox
i know you're not picking on the 360. but i don't think the hard disk had anything to do with uncharteds load times. i don't remember a disc install for uncharted. If all load times came from reading the Blu ray disc, it's safe to assume that load times would be faster n 360 since reading DVD discs is faster

There wasn't any load times though, other than when you first started the game.

now im no wiz in the whole game development market, but i was under the impression that the reason Uncharted had no loading times was because all the data was left uncompressed on the other hand, on the X360 due to the size limitations of a DVD disk, they would be required to use compressed textures and what not, thus causing loading times as the X360 decompressed all the data...now like i said, im no expert so im probably wrong :P just saying what i heard

i think uncompressed data takes even longer to read.. but i'm no expert either :P
either way, i think the game can be done on 360.

oh yeah, no doubt. Im pretty sure it can be done on X360. Uncharted is the best looking game on consoles and it is beautiful, but not THAT beautiful. It looks hella nice, but people here claim the graphics are the second coming. they make it seem like the graphics will WOW you like Gears when it was first released.
Thats a good answer. As a Lemming, I'd say that the PS3 is more powerful, but the visuals that the 360 gives me is more than enough to keep me happy.

Anyway if graphics prove power then PS3 is winning that battle. Ratchet and Clank, Unreal Tournament 3, Gran Turismo: Prologue and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune are all graphically superior to anything on X360. As time goes on I think PS3 will keep improving while X360 seems to already topped out graphically with Gears since in over a year and a half nothing has surpassed it.

haven't read that anywhere, but if they did say that then i disagree, simple as that. uncharted looks great, but the difference with 360 titles is minimal.. just natural evolution like we'll see in coming games.
and graphics do not prove power. but PS3 IS more powerfull. sorry, guess i'm a little bit too objective for these forums...
Ratchet looks great but has no realistic complkicated textures, Drake is a small step and you could even say that the scale of mass effect is more impressive with those graphics. Gran tourismo is cars. cars are far easier than people, but it looks 100 x better than forza jaggie

Uncharted: Here are two links for you:
Eurogamer review:http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=87533&page=2 "Talking of environments, it's hard to think of a single game that's ever included such lush and staggeringly detailed gaming environment. As much as Gears of War provided a stunning next-generation shooter setting, the moody greys and browns made it a harsh, dark, hostile, and monochromatic place to be. In Uncharted, it's not just superior to Gears in terms of out and out detail, but brings a feel-good factor with the sheer level of environmental variety on offer." "Truly, Uncharted is the first game I've seen to date that makes me wonder if it could be done on the Xbox 360, and as a huge admirer of the software line-up on Microsoft's system, that's saying a lot." Gamespy:http://goty.gamespy.com/2007/ps3/10.html "We can confidently say that after playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, it is a game that could only be done on the PlayStation 3. Between the amazing vistas that stretch out over the horizon, rich foliage, and the sheer amount of data that pushes the limits of Blu-ray's storage capacity, Naughty Dog's incredibly rich visual splendor is something to behold."
Ratchet and Clank: "no realistic textures" Since when has anything on Ratchet ever went for "realistic."
Concerning Forza vs Gran Tursimo.... Give me a break Forza has nice looking cars, but the environments are barely even nextgen and that is why almost every screenshot you see just shows the cars. Even the lighting in Forza is Fake. Most of it is premapped textures. Even the cars have textured shine on them. And I think the cars in Gran Turismo are harder than people included in most games. The headlight alone in Prologue has more polygons than the entire car in the last Gran Turismo.

no blu-ray does streaming fast more data at once than dvd. yes the 12x is faster but more data at a time streams of blu-ray.To be the superior gaming console, you just have to look beyond the graphics. You have to take processing speeds, loading time (which the PS3 needs installs with a hand full of games to make it run on par and better than the 360 versions), the cost of the console, and how well is the online into consideration. The PS3 is just doing an average job with those and it isn't leaps and bounds over the 360. So the 360 has the advantage.
