It doesn't work that way. If you send yours back they either repair it or send you another without HDMI. Trust me I sent my launch back. They couldn't repair it. So I got another console without HDMI.

But hey, try and spin the RROD into something positive if you must.

I hope I get RRoD, then I can give the phone to my father, and he'll be sure to get my money back, he did that to sony with my ps2.

plus, cows can stop using that as their only way to counter respond.

The RROD will never diminish. Yes the problem will be reduced greatly id say to arround a 5% failure rate, but it will never and I repeat never go away.

360 is far more unreliable, plus it's just made generally cheap and crappy.

the ps3 is a great piece of machinery that should last 10 years without a problem. (it may melt several things if you put them next to it though)

ps3 is without flaws console wise.

Xbox360 is ugly,noisy,high failure rate and its controller deeply and epicly fails to oblivion gates of doom/hell.

I heard of a few like the PSN update bricking systems and the80010514error code (I think that was the one that kills your PS3) but these problems are minor unlike the RROD which I seen it twicechansaet

i got that but i got it fixed in 2 weeks. its free if it happens within a year.

The only problems I know about for the PS3 are (I don't know any statstical rates, sorry):

The Blu-Ray disc reading errors (Only heard of 1 so far though)

The YLOD (Pronounced EE-LOD) or the "Yellow Light Of Death" in which your console has overheated (pretty easy to avoid with decent ventilation and weekly dusting using that special spray you use for PC's)

And the 2.4 brick. Which I don't think should affect any console from here on.

Hehe, I left it to do Folding at Home for like a day at work, and one of my controllers is shape slightly funny near the bottom.

Its not noticeable if you don't look very closely for it.

It sorta looks like burnt skin on a human after a fire. Its sad, but thats the only thing I could think of.

But how do you know FOR SURE that this will either end RRoD or greatly reduce the rate of RRoD?

Is it really the "Falcon Chip" and the chip before that?

How are we sure its not the concave exterior of the console? Or the disk extending tray? Or the loud fans that accidentally burst dust into the wrong place?

I really hate to take part in these console wars. But if it's true that the new X360 failure rates will be around 1-5 % then they're at the same level as PS3 and Wii.

Unless you actually plan on purchasing a new 360, they dont give you an HDMI equipped 360 refurb automatically. I think it's just the luck of the draw, lol.

The 60gb PS3 can be prone to Blu-ray laser lens failure. I know, I'm currently dealing with this issue on my PS3 which is past the warranty. The 40/80gb units have a dual laser lens set-up and I'm not sure how reliable those are. I guess time will tell. The good thing about this is the part for the 60gb PS3s, KES-400A is very simple to replace with some guidance.

The 360s issue I believe has to do with overheating the unit thus frying several hardware components. It has a 3 year warranty which you may need down the road. I wish Sony had a 3 year warranty now.
