Is the PS3 dying?

SONY axed the 20gb version, becuse it wasn't selling. NPD shows the PS3 sales weakening, in US, and DS just going crazy. With DS sales what they are I expect to see one in every hand. You can also count me in on the DS bandwagon I just purchased one this month, trading old XBOX and GC, and all related accessories in for DS. Man I guess I was wrong about the PSP being the winner, I do own a PSP, but never guessing that I would bow to the DS. Sony really sucks without good 3rd parties.. 3rd parties are abandoning the PS3 in droves, or at least multiplatforming most PS3 exclusives. PS3 is loooosssssttttt in spaaacceeee

Of course I do, but I'm not the one who made the comment that the latest NPD shows the PS3 sales weakening.  By definition, for them to weaken they would have to sell less, not more.

If you look world wide and get rid of europe (no previous month) then they sold less.  Japan fell alot.

You know what has me more concerned about PS3? All of the delays. Even Super Rub-a-Dub got delayed last week. Sad....Lair, Heavenly Sword....what happened to May 07? Now it's July 31 and TBA. Nice....

The 80GB isn't going to help either...if they don't start selling some Hardware soon, Sony could be in a lot of trouble both in its gaming division and with its home theatre revolution that is Blu-Ray.

You know what has me more concerned about PS3? All of the delays. Even Super Rub-a-Dub got delayed last week. Sad....Lair, Heavenly Sword....what happened to May 07? Now it's July 31 and TBA. Nice....

Things are delayed because Sony wants the games to be better. They can't release crap and get more bad PR. So they get delayed, delayed, delayed... addding more pixels, uncompressed sound, or whatever. Sony needs to show something. They need to have an spetacular 2007 holidays and 2008 otherwise they'll drown.

 True. Just explaining why Sony is delaying its games. They know they've lost until now and want to catch up.

wow thats a good way to put it (not sarcasm) we need to give ps3 some time it will grow.

The PS3 is doomed until it can drop it price by at least $200.  And even if it drops the console by $200, they still won't sell very good.

The PS3 is looking more and more like it will be stuck in 3rd place, just like they are sitting comfortably right now.

That would make sense if Japanese and European sales were factored in NPD numbers. As it is they are not, and US sales of the PS3 increased.   His comment clearly referenced NPD numbers.  Either that or I'm illiterate.
