is the ps3 really that bad ?

I have a ps3, and i'm enjoying it. :D

Of course, once the really good games start hitting in August, things will get a lot better. It starts with Lair, then Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, etc. etc.

PS3's great, and outside of system wars that's not hard to see. Problem is some of the system's more...zealous...fans here tend to contribute very negatively to its image.D0013ER

it's been a major dissapointment:

first the price: I thought $400 was pretty high for a console, but 600 (2x what the ps2 cost at launch) is pretty rediculous.

next is the value: Ok for $600 (and a years wait) we were expecting graphics to be top of the line, and everything for the ps3 to clearly be graphically superior to the 360. So far what has our extra $200 given us... free online.

games: we are constantly loosing titles or finding out titles are not living up to pre-release hype. There's alot of promise of what's to come, but really there's alot of good stuff coming out on the other systems also, and I don't think any gamer feels the ps3 future line-up is any stronger than the wii's, 360's, or pc's.

On it's own the ps3 isn't really bad, but it's not the playstation we were expecting. We're getting slightly better (at times) graphics, and sometimes less features (online, chat, content). Still the ps3 is getting lots of games, and the graphics are really good so it's hard to say it's a bad system.

Who says Sony is bad? Do PS2 owners say that?

I think the majority of people who had a PS2 enjoyed the console and its games, and to be honest, I think many are still playing their PS2s and haven't moved on to next gen, evident by the console's strong software sales.

I think in time people will experience the same thing with the PS3.

The ps3 doesn't interest me at all. Wow Killzone two.... Wait a second Killzone one sucked. Lair looks good but how will it play?? Warhawk looks like it will be laggy.

I could bewrong and those game will be great however Not as good as the games on my 360 and wii :)

think you're on to something there. The PS3 gets alot of negative posts because the 360 owners have a LOT of free time to make forum posts while their 360 is in the mail being fixed...while the PS3 owners are too busy actually playing games.

I could bewrong and those game will be great however Not as good as the games on my 360 and wii :)

And ppl have said that the last 2 gens and look who came out victorious. The ps3 is just fine, only ppl that hate it are ppl who dont own one or know they will never be able to get one until it is affordable to them.

I jumped on the Wii bandwagon back in Nov. mainly because of the attractive $250 price tag and promises by Nintendo to deliver a revolution in gaming. Biggest game-buying mistake I've ever made and with every new announcement things just get worse imo. It's a shame because Wii has potential but with Nintendo on their current "screw the core gamer" crusade I don't see things improving any time soon.

Really bad? Actually its the opposite, thats why fanboys hate them ;)

The only thing I'm a little depressed about is the lack of good RPG exclusives. Namely J-RPG's like Folklore and White Knight, and FF ofcourse.

I hear you there...that's the biggest disappointment for me so far.



For action, FPS, and racing games I prefer the PC usually (I like the KB/M controls better than a game control), but for RPG and Sports titles, I prefer consoles...and right now I'm a bit limitted in choices on the PS3 in either of those genres. I'm just still happy with the PS3 because I do have about 40 PS2 rpg titles to finish playing yet...and they look nicer on the PS3 with upscaling. The draught is almost over though! I have one or two games each month for the PS3 on pre-order going forward from July to the end of the year! Bout !@#% time.

I gave up on Nintendo after Miyamoto's ramblings during the GDC in which he essentially said "We no longer give a crap about core gamers." Sure I'll play the Big 3 but outside of those games, which are the same old, same old, there is nothing else to look forward to. And I do believe them when they say they'll be changing Zelda drastically, I think if people thought WW was kiddy, they aint seenanything yet, look for a Zelda game geared towards female gamers, that will be their big change.

The only thing that kept me from getting one was the high price and lack of exclusive quality titles at launch. I think the hardware is fine. The software tools and how the developers program for it canbe a problem. It should take developers 2-3 years to crack how the software works with the hardware. The PS3 will eventually start selling after the price drops. That should be announce on July 12th if the rumors are true. I expect M$ will follow right behind Sony and drop their price as well. This holiday season should be interesting.

How about Mass Effect, Gears of war, Halo 3, Super paper mario, Dead Rising, Saints row, and hopfully MArio kart

Ignore the haters (mostly lemmings) and buy a PS3. it's a fantastic console with basically everything you'll need to enjoy next-gen gaming. It might not come with an HDMI cable or two controllers (only 1) but you can buy an HDMI cable for about 5 dollars online.
