I think the Saturn and Dreamcast didnt sell out, and im pretty sure that old atari (etc) consoles didnt sell ridiculously fastJohn_Coffey
That's some nice company for ps3. A bunch of failed consoles.

Dreamcast was sold out worldwide at launch. I think Saturn was sold in Japan and Europe but maybe not the US. For the Saturn I'm just going by memory, I know the DC was sold out at launch for sure.

KK my bad, but im sure the ps3 isnt the first:)Â
I live in the UK and Amazon here sold all there pre-orders for the Wii in 7 minutes and 3 months after launch there still next to impossible to get hold of. Similar to the xbox360 and every other console release. After weeks of pre-orders Amazon and many other sites and stores are trying to take PS3 orders for launch, will anyone be surprised if it doesn't sell out here, was it similar in the US?magrappy
[QUOTE="Truth-slayer"]?
Didn't the PS3 sell out during the first month of launch?

He is talking about the PAL launch but the console was easy to find not too long after launch in the US and Japan... or so I hear.
I wasn't able to find any until after Christmas....when the supply finally caught up with the demand. Also orders on Amazon and other sites in the US sold out in a matter of minutes.... so I am really not sure what the TC is getting at here.I live in the UK and Amazon here sold all there pre-orders for the Wii in 7 minutes and 3 months after launch there still next to impossible to get hold of. Not even close. Consoles selling out is a brand new phenomenon caused by gaming being taken up by the mainstream.  The Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colleco, NES, Master System, SNES, Genesis, TurboGrafix, Neo Geo, 3D0, CD-i, SegaCD, 32X, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, GC and Xbox did NOT sell out.
Only the PS2, 360, and Wii have seen sellouts. I take people's word that the PS3 isn't selling out but I haven't seen one in my city since Christmas.
Frankly, I see these sellout having more to do with developers not being able to produce and not so much about massively high demand.

That's more or less it. MS couldn't provide enough. It may even be a business move to keep more hype going, I wouldn't know and I doubt it. I'm not the one to scream teh conspiraciez and all, but you never know.
