DVD, Blu-Ray. what are your predictions?.. I think Nintendo is going to use DVD again to mantain the low cost production.

If they want to keep the cost of production down, they'll use DVD. Not saying blu-ray is extremely expensive, it's just that Nintendo maximises profit whenever possible even more than the other two. Sony and Microsoft don't mind taking a hit if they can sell a lot and sell a lot of games and accessories.

lol no one is going to use plain old dvd anymore. that would be really foolish.
nintendo has never used the standard media, so they won't use blu - ray either. they'll either make their own format or, idk, mini blu ray? like the gamecube's mini dvd's. :P
I think it'll depend on what Nintendo plans on doing in terms of online. Their goal seems to be to make the new console as multiplat friendly as possible, and that likely means either a big-ish HDD for installs or blu-ray. If they pull their collective heads out of their asses and realize a robust online service is kind of a big deal I'd expect them to go the HDD route similar to the 360 S (ie DVD+installs), but if not they might need to go BR to avoid being tripped up by the increasing number of larger-than-DVD9 games coming out.
no but they will use the price of a blu ray.
i cant stand Freakin nintendo, all they do is copy and paste.
ALTAIR360
lol NINTENDO is the one who copy and pastes?
Ok then :P
The console will have a hot-swappable SSD slot and each game will come on a 10GB SSD and each game will cost £100.
DVD obviously. Besides, wasnt there a rumor that went around a few weeks ago saying that xbox 360 disc could hold up to 10 gigs?

DVD... think cost. Nintendo only cares for profits. My guess the real price of console is 150 but theyre gonna sell it for 350.

that was fake.

i see no diffrence in their games. it looks so boring and outdated. i dont give a crap about move or kinect. u fanboys can fight about that, i dont care.
I would suggest setting up an appointment with an optometrist then :P
they should use some kind of cartridges (like n64 but smaller with flash technology) or some other properitary media that cant be burned and pirated , also dont include SD USB or any standard ports on the console to make it even harder to do anything illegal

uhmm the Wii uses DVD ?If there is one point where there is absoulutely no negatives with going with the standard format of the generation, it's now. Mini DVD and Cartridges really sped up load times, so they had good reason there. No reason for not going with Blu Ray unless they're just plain being cheap.
Cost of production down. Did you see the leaked pictures? real or fake every controller having a screen isnt going to be cheap. If they want to keep the cost of production down, they'll use DVD. that may be true , but they have almost none loading times and as i said the security reasons would justify thator they could possibly not want their developers clogging up discs with repeated data due to horrendous seek times of blu ray.If there is one point where there is absoulutely no negatives with going with the standard format of the generation, it's now. [QUOTE="magnax1"]or they could possibly not want their developers clogging up discs with repeated data due to horrendous seek times of blu ray. If the system has an HDD to install essential files to it will not be an issue. The load times on some early PS3 games were bad, but for the last few years they have been pretty much exactly the same as the Xbox 360. There isn't any reason not to use Blu-Ray right now other than to save money, and as we've seen with Xbox 360 that can have some rather annoying costs in the long run. DVD is already outdated as far as game storage goes, so Nintendo would be smart to skip it and go Blu.If there is one point where there is absoulutely no negatives with going with the standard format of the generation, it's now. Why would it need a blu-ray?
more capacity , less easy to pirate , possibilty to playback blu ray movies , being up to date ...What makes people think they will use BD? They did not use DVD. Hell, they did not even use CD. Nintendo hates licencing fees.
My guess as was the case with Wii, Project Cafe will use its own optical media storage.
It's Nintendo. Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a cartridge with a bluray min-disc inside with a screen on it, two cameras & wi-fi that requires friend codes & motion controls to place & remove from the console.

cds , dvds and blu rays are all optical disks , they are all being read by respective optical drivesDoubt it.... they could use something more akin to HDDVD... its not like Ninty has a history of including movie playback in their systems... and HDDVD would be more than enough space for todays games.
Besides... correct me if I'm wrong but a HDDVD player could still read a DVD... right?
Dude, the manufacturers have quit printing that format for a long time. It would be way cheaper for Nintendo to just go with BluRay at this point.Doubt it.... they could use something more akin to HDDVD... its not like Ninty has a history of including movie playback in their systems... and HDDVD would be more than enough space for todays games.
