Is the Wii considered nex gen?

Anyone who says the Wii isn't current-gen or "next-gen" (as some of you still say) doesn't know what a generation is...

Of course it is next gen in the truest sense, that it is offered at the current time AFTER the previous Ninty system. As far as technically next gen, no, I personally do not consider it so. If the remote really blew me away, I could let the graphics slide, but it does not.

The Wii is for **** that can't play real games I compare them to cars marked with "Driver Training" signs. Corvin

This is the stupidest topic ever. How many times must it be stated that the term "next-gen" has nothing to do with system specs?

Also, how many times must it be stated that the PS3, X360 and Wii are all current-gen?

Get with the program, mate. Come back with actual knowledge, and stop wasting GameSpot's forum space. 

I like to see peoples opinions.  By definition you could say the Wii is next gen.  Its like comparing a Kia to a Benz to a Porsche.

They are all vehicles true, but making a comparison is dumb.

And for the last two gens, where they actually started failing, they had superior graphics and power.  Why should they keep going that route, when it doesn't work.  Isn't doing something multiple time while expecting the same result the defenition of insanity?

Looking at the Wii and have played it...graphics wise I do not consider it nex gen..the Wii remote is a novel idea, but honestly does not blow me away. I honeslty cannot say its even par w/ the PS3/360. Thoughts?Diablo2343

they had superior power, but nintendo ALWAYS SCREWS UP in something, n64 cartridges, GC no online, and now WII underpowered, and they end up losing the war again and again
