The Wii was obliterating everything in sales for a while there, it caught up to the 360 in record time... but now what? It's stagnant. There wasn't any specific title pushing those consoles, and the huge boom seems to have fizzled out. Are all of these amazing titles like Mario and SSB going to reawaken the sales juggernaut, or is it really just a fad and people are pretty much over it?

Feel free to speculate. Wildly.

How has it fizzled? For the past few months, the Wii has been selling an all time high. :|

Its the most successful failure ever. A terrible system from the great Nintendo that totally fails at delivering revolutionary gaming or improving on the previous generation. Anyone that thinks it won't win teh sales is just silly now though.

What do you need a link for? Check any of the sales figures sites. It pushed 10 million units in like 5 months, almost 2 million a consoles a month. Now it isn't moving. There isn't a conspiracy here, it's just not selling as fast as it was. Why do you think that is?

Stagnant like no longer selling more copies than a Garth Brooks album.

Well, the pretty much everyone has a Wii except for kids whose parent couldn't find it and some people who just want to get it when it's $100 so they can play Super Smash and some of the other exclusives (that's what I'll do or just wait until Nintendo's next system if it's backwards compatible). My prediction: After this holiday season no one will really be buying the Wii, Nintendo will be able to spend all the money from the sales of the systems to make great games, then (about 6 months later) they will lower the price of the Wii a bit and introduce colored Wii's, everyone who doesn't have one will buy it for the low price and all the great new games, after about3 years of the whole world playing all of those great Nintendo exclusives and getting their greandparents to try out the Wii it will eventually die down, and then (about 3 years later) Nintendo will then be the first to introduce their next-gen system: A system with controllers similar to the Wii, better-than-PS3 graphics, all the multimedia features of the 360 and PS3, full compatibility with the next handheld, a sleekly designed shell, backwards compatible with the Wii and GC games, blu-ray reader, Super Smash as one of it's launch games, etc., etc.

Looks like a pretty straight line to me. That means steady sales. The Wii never pushed 2 million in a month, not even close. Fizzle? Hardly. The Wii is going to obliterate the other consoles this holiday. 360 may give it a run with Halo 3, but Sony will be lucky to sell half what Nintendo does.

lol, last I checked Wii was still number one on the charts, and it's remained the number one gaming related product on Amazon right next to Halo 3. With good games coming very soon, I don't think Wii's reign is going to stop anytime soon, especially since the first quarter of next year is looking good for the console as well with Wii Fit, Mario Kart, and No More Heroes.

The Wii is just hurting alittle because of the void of 3rd party support.. This is mainly due to the nonexistent support before the systems release.. Where there were little to no third party games being devolped, this is being changed as many large devs have already stated their regrets for not supporting the Wii, and they have put more serious support for the console.. The best bet is wait 6 months..

If they can keep outselling this holiday, i just don't see any way of stopping it anymore.
This holiday is the chance for M$ to keep the wii in check somewhat through insane advertising.
Can't shake off the feeling Halo 3 was just released too early.

It's fizzled out so much it's only outselling any other console at least 2:1. Man, if this is stagnant, imagine what'll happen when SMG and SSBB come along and reinvigorate sales.

Nah, Nintendo will never quit the gaming business. They're are the only current company who focuses strictly on making video game consoles and games for them.

The Wii will see its sales go down in 2008. But the lack of people buying Wii software is what will cause the Wii to not do well. Sure tons of people own it but most of them are not buying much software at all.

except the Wii sold 12 million and the PS3 didnt even sell 5 million

the 360 has a bigger atach rate than the Wii and the PS3 put together, so Joaemis DOES have a point

EDIT: here´s the link http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2006/11/23/game-attach-rates-15-per-ps3-3-per-wii-52-per-xbox-360.htm

yes its an old link, but the atach rate remains the same even today

Wii isn't finished, sure I do agree to a lot of people it's a fad, it's like TY Beanie babies but it does have a huge fanbase and will be around along time.

I've been a Nintendo fan for a long time but the Wii is a disappointment for me, it's not the graphics, I don't care about graphics but it's that damned Wiimote, it was fun for awhile but now it's just getting to the point of stupid. That's just my take on it though and I'll still be picking up Mario for it, oh and ToS II.

The Wii has plenty of time to go. Although I really do love my usual Nintendo games this year, I'm really looking forward to the different/original stuff of next year.
