I remember when the Wii was announced in 2006 (after some previews as the Revolution), people were hyped for it. It won NUMEROUS awards, and people wanted it very badly. The media reacted as well, including an awesome South Park episode - people wanted the Wii.

Wii Sports was a brilliant pack-in game that turned the Wii into a phenomenon. Then it launched with Zelda for the hardcore gamers. Nintendo kept up the momentum until about 2010 and then it just went flat. The Wii lost its hype (but still sold pretty well).

And I think that will hurt the Wii U- the non-gamer casuals that bought the Wii won't know what to think of it. "Oh honey I hear a Wii U is coming out." "Oh, does that go with the Wii, that thing we threw in the attic a few years ago?"

And hardcore gamers aren't going to get it like the Wii because the graphics aren't up to par (really Nintendo? Come on!) and let's face it, Nintendo games just aren't generating the excitement they used to.

The Wii might have been a gimmick but it worked - it gave a new way for gamers to play and they ate it up. Nintendo thinks that because tablets are the in thing now that people want this controller but they don't. It will offer nothing new for games (maybe a map like 90% of DS games) and is expensive and lame.

Overall the Wii was a brilliant idea, but the Wii U is just meh and will NOT re-create the success the Wii had. It may sell 40 million units, good for a Nintendo console.

I believe it will truly be the worst Nintendo console ever, beating the Wii and N64!

Well maybe it will be good unlike the Wii. I mean, even though Wii sold so much more, I think the Gamecube had a much better library.

The Wii sold because of the Wiimote. The Wii U does not have this luxury.

To be honest I am finding it hard to gauge if there is any real hype for the console or not. I have a kind of mixed bag of emotions that is making me second guess if I really want the console when it is released or wait a few months and see how it is doing. The Nintendo fan inside of me wants and expects the console to do well and get plenty of support but when I actually think about it I have my doubts at the same time. Personally I have enjoyed the Wii this generation but if the WiiU has the same sort of vibe that Wii did I can see myself getting bored of it quickly. The ball is in Nintendo's court at this stage now they need to end any kind of doubt that people have before the release.

Yeah the Wii was a pretty good console - being the worst Nintendo console isn't an insult at all. It just was neglected the last couple years.

nope, its so lackluster that I have sold all my wii games except Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime Trilogy. I was planning on collecting Nintendo games from the Wii onwards, and was gonna buy a Wii U and 3DS, but they have turned to **** lately. I am done with them until they get back on track.

Worst Nintendo console as in how? Online forum hatred?

Either way, in real life, away from cow pits such as System Wars, the WiiU actually has quite a bit of excitment. Most people I know really want one, and even people who I know don't like Nintendo are willing to get it simply because it's going to be more powerful than the 360 and PS3 and will most likely be cheaper than the PS4 and 720.

Does that include journalists ? Cause IDK seems like most gaming websites think the WiiU is alittle bit of a joke at the moment, especially since seeing the last 2 E3s. Casuals don't know wtf it is and think it is a Wii add on, but hey once Nintendo advertises it (since their good at that) it will probably sell pretty well. Just everyone outside of a hardcore sheep doesn't seem to care.

I thought you hated the Wii?

Eh. I'm not too excited about the Wii U. None of the games it has announced really interest me. ZombiU might have potential, but the gameplay demo didn't really grab me. NSMBU, well... I dunno, that segment of the Mario franchise just seems kinda like it's resting on the laurels. I mean, the Galaxy games were great and full of creative level design and an awesome orchestrated soundtrack. I want something as fresh and exciting as that.

The new controller seems neat, but there doesn't seem to be anything that grabs me. I mean, I'll probably still get it because I love Zelda and Smash Bros, but I remember that I thought the Wii was really neat. Hell, Wii launched with a big Zelda game, WiiU doesn't seem to have anything anywhere near on that level. All it's getting are a bunch of ports I can already play on my PS3 or PC.

I have no doubt in my mind, the WiiU will sell well just like all Nintendo consoles. People I have talked to don't care about the WiiU but hey I don't know what your job is or where you work. Personally Im still waiting on Nintendo to *Wow* me before I gain any interest, at the moment more Intrested in the PS4 and Xbox720. Not because I will buy them (PC gamer) but because Nintendo didn't show me any game that makes me go *holy crap this is next gen* or provide any interesting concepts or ideas, apart from the controller which hasn't shown to effect games in positive interesting ways.

they havent blown me away either im waiting on pikmin though. im a huge pikmin junky.

the way the industry promotes now is changing, e3 has become a business conference , plus you have nintendo doing nintendo directs which is where all there info comes from. thats why i didnt take this years e3(and a couple of years before) seriously.

i will expect most people to be interested in the ps4/720 now because we have an idea of what the wiiu is bringing to the table. we have no idea what the next xbox/ps is so its only right to be skeptical and what they are doing.

however im not expecting anyone to blow me away, ill be getting all three systems again but theres so many casuals that eat up at least 70% of gaming today theres no need to push new ips and etc forward. devs make most of there profit from casuals and theyre fine with minimal changes to a next installment in a series.

also the pricing of dev cost is rediculous so for now im expecting a super gen which ive been stating before.

For a new console coming out this year, it's doing pretty bad. No one knows a darned thing about it. Heck, I'm a Ninty fanboy and I'm no excited about it one bit. I think it will get a lot of PS3/X360 ports. Oh, and the last two E3's has me believing that Ninty doesn't have a clue about the Wii-U either. LOL!!!

Wait until September before making any hasty judgements. If done right, this could very well be the PS2 of next generation. I'm not expecting a Wii like situation, but I do believe this console will strongly appeal to core gamers; which most users here would consider a good thing.

Its not because outside a few games, no one knows anything about it. You would think that with this thing coming out in the next few months that people would know more about it.

Some. It's Nintendo, and any Nintendo system is gonna get a look from many gamers. It's also the first new console in 6 years, and lots of console gamers have been craving new hardware. The lack of concrete info, and the disappointing info that HAS been revealed have served to mute the buzz somewhat.

I think the "CoD audience" will not approve of Wii U, even if it would have the best version of the said game.

It's success is largly dependand if "casuals" will buy it (the long-term fans likely don't represent the majority).

What an idiot you are. If you think the Wii-U will be any good, then you have a problem.

1. What does that have to do with your comment. Cant stick to a discussion? Cant make a solid argument for your knee jerk remark?

2. I'll actually, ya know, WAIT AND SEE what happens. You see I wasn't born yesterday. I've been gaming for over 25 years. I've seen companies go through ups and downs. I've seen Nintendo put out some of the best consoles around. I've also seen them fall short. I've seen relatively under-powered hardware host some of the best games of all time. More importantly I've seen that you cant just count a company in or out on a fanboyish whim.

Maybe you should learn to do the same. Of course you wont. You'll continue to nutt hug Sony to the grave while rational people like me continue enjoying great games no matter the platform.
