Im thinking about getting a Ps3 by combining some of my brothers money with my own (money is not a problem.) Meanwhile, my friend has a 360 and the graphics too look amazing. Im hoping I don't miss anything by getting a PS3 rather than the 360 in terms of graphics so basically my question for you is: Is there a diff. between the 360 and PS3 graphics?
They are too close to tell, only fanboys say one game dominate another in the graphics stage but in reality they both look so good people want to play both and want to own both. Hardware wise the 360 can produce better graphics but because it uses the dvd, the compression of textures degrades the quialty bringing it down, and with the ps3 it has a worse graphics processing unit so it produces worse graphics then the 360 but because it has blu-ray the compression of the textures is not nearly as bad as on the 360 so in the end the games looks pretty much exactly the same.

I can't say which is better. But what I can say is the PS3 has the best looking games that are out right now. But the future could tell a different story. I really don't care which has the better graphics because my PC beats them both. I care about which one can widen my game selection the most as a PC gamer. That is the PS3.

That's the best answer anyone could give you, Mango. With multiplats, which game looks better will depend on the game, but I have found my PS3 exclusives look better than my 360 exclusives do.
That said, go with the one that has the games you want. It's not like one looks like garbage and the other is a bed of roses.
too all intents and purposes....there the same. some games might look a bit sharper on the 360 or a bit more detailed on PS3 from time to time...but overall there the same really.
And more to the point, how often do you play with your friend? Because if you get to play most games, then there's little point on a 360.
That's what I did on the Ps1 gen, when I wasn't exactly in as good a financial situation as now. My best friend had a Ps1, and we saw each other at least once a week (if not more often), so I got a ninty 64. No exclusives were behind our grasp. Did the same thing last gen, I gots me an xbox.

little difference, trust me got both, found both consoles close if ur after movies, long life expectancy and a good looking future go for PS3, you want a lot of games NOW! and online thatss a bit better then get an xbox.

I and I are on the same page i'm no wii supporter. But anyhoos when i play a ps3 game on a HDTV like MGS4 I can see that the graphics are a lot sharper than most of what 360 has. I'm no fool I like good graphics, 360 is not at a low standard but when asked a question like "which has the best graphics?" I'll go with what i see and PS3 from my manticore eyeballs is the system that has the best looking games. Bar PC.

PS3 will probably have little bether graphics in the end because of stronger hardware and blue ray False, there hardware is VERY close, the 360 has the superior GPU and the PS3 has the superior CPU, although not easy to program for and lacking certain things for gaming, still stronger.

No, there isn't. Some games look better on 360. Some games look better on PS3. The reason being is the PS3 is a beast to developer for (That's changing as time goes on), and the 360(Besides being out a full year) is easier to develop for.
The tide is slowly changing, and we are seeing the PS3 have some graphical claims to fame, but for now, I'll play it safe and say they are about equal.

But this gen you also may want to take into account what if he wants to play online with his friend, but if you dont then there may not be much of a reason for you to buy one.
