If you're talking about beating Halo 3's hype, then no, I don't think its hype will be beaten for a long, long time. As far as gameplay, then yes, plenty of games will beat it.
Halo 3 can only be compared to other FPS. GTA 4 is a racing shooter game thingy, it really isn't comparable to Halo 3. And really Halo 3 is on another plantet. Regardless of how crappy OR how good it is, the game is going ot sell like crazy.

u mean an fps game???? well one thing is for sure alot of fps out there are scare of halo that they wont even release around the release date or even the holyday.other fps came out with the idea of time exclusive *cough* *haze* *cough*.and i was hoping for UT3 but i guess m$ hold them back
agree with some of the stuff. SSBB will be a great Multiplayer game, especially online. Unreal Tournament and Quake wars also though. Single player, I pretty much agree with that. Graphics, crysis hands down, and fun, um depends on the person

Beat it in what, A free falling contest to see which one is faster at falling?!!! Well I would choose a game with more disks than Halo 3. One with mandy disks should beat it.

I disagre Halo 2 was about online and so they bungie vamped it up. But what made halo 1 so good was the melee, and assault rifle. Basically, bungie is trying to make the multiplayer back to the origon. But it has more than hype, i means it's freaking halo 3, there is a fan-base for halo, and with the beta out, and new screen, AND this ends the series is has a lot going for it. regardless of what you sony fanboys, and nintendo fanboys, and M$ fanboys, the game is going to sell like crazy.
Listen, the entire Halo series is one huge monument to the devious deity that is HYPE.
Halo 1= Pretty darn solid FPS for consoles. Not a big deal compared to the PC's line-up but yeah, a big deal to console gamers. Repetitive levels and enemies brought it down.
Halo 2= Decent game with excellent outdoor levels, and horrifically linear, repetitive, and unecessary indoor sections. Good vehicles... but that's about all that really stood out.
Halo 3= No reason to be excited. Especially when Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, and Crysisare coming out within the same time period

Well, it's very hard to say. I think Bungie is smart and won't skrew it up. I think they will stick to a formula that works. The game won't be "EPIC" like halo 1 and halo 2, but it won't suck.

It's really sad that people say that this game is all hype, when I could care less about all of that, yet still love the series. You can hype Big Rigs all you want, it would still be a bad game, and no one would buy it. There's more here than hype, people.
If Halo 3 winds up like Halo 2, then both the multiplayer AND the singleplayer will suck. (Halo 1 was a good multiplayer FPS, at the very least.) I'll take Bioshock and Crysis instead. However, there is the chance that Halo 3 could become a surprisingly good game.
