I haven't gotten RDR yet, but I was just wondering, because so many people say RDR is better and GTAIV is one of the best games ever made so that means RDR must be THE BEST GAMES EVER MADE ! lol jokes, but it must be pretty good :P
GTAIV is good, but it aint no 10. I don't say this often but it's insanely high critical praise is complete BS. RDR is better at just about everything. Actually I can't think of one thing that GTAIV does better.

GTA4's game world is much more vibrant.
Ok, that's one thing is does better I guess. That's simply because RDR has to deal with the limitations of it's setting. The West wasn't exactly the most lively of places. Still, I find it to be a much funner place to visit than the typical modern day city.

I don't know what youre talking about because around here GTA4 is pretty loathed.
As for which game is better, I preferred RDR...
How in the holy hell are you allowed to have that sig. I used to have this gif avatar that was of a girl wearing a Ford T-shirt bouncing up and down, and the mods told me to get rid of it instantly.
ye i hated rdr..like gta4 much better.. rdr was just a borefest... plain bland landscape boring side missions and i didnt enjoy the main missions either... doesnt help that i dont like westerns..infact i hate them! the only thing i did like in the whole game was the challenges (collect x amount of whatever) and playing poker lol. GTA4 was more alive and i enjoyed the characters and missions more.
GTA IV is better than Red Dead Redemption in pretty much every way. Grand Theft Auto IV is generally perfectly put together, and a blast to play while RDR is pretty sloppy in comparison.

there is no game with that gives the same satisfaction of driving down the road and running people down, between the physics and the blood all over the cars... I don't know why people dislike this game so much the only thing thats seems bad about it is having to take care of your friends in which case, it stops you from murdering people for a little while.
If RDR is worse than GTAVI, then I'm not getting it. I sometimes wonder why I got GTA4 in first place.... oh right, I wanted to play EFLC without feeling I was nowhere.
I actually enjoyed GTA 4 better. The world of GTA 4 just felt so much more alive, more people to screw with, more random things happening like cops pulling over a guy, pulling him out, only to have him run and steal a car initiating a chase.................with me following lmao :P
Then the guy crashes into a car at the toll bridge, and the cops get out and unload on the car lol, that just doesnt happen in RDR :P
I simply cannot get into RDR's universe, while I was instantly immersed in GTA IV. Maybe it's because Rockstar needs to find a new way to make their rather mundane mission structure more dynamic. The rather formulaic "go to glowing dot/letter, receive mission cutscene, complete mission, watch ending cutscene, repeat for 20-30 hours" is getting old, at least IMO.

Hard to imagine, seeing as how every single gameplay aspect from GTA IV was greatly improved in RDR. Of course, some may like the setting better, but gameplay wise there is no comparison.
Preferred GTA4 personally. Both good games but GTA4 got better as it went along, more to do, more vibrant world, better writing. RDR stated off great but really went downhill once you crossed the border, characters and story were good in the US parts but descended into lazy stereotypes and generic storytelling in the Mexican parts. Ended up skipping most of the cutscenes in the second half of the game. Both good games though, the backlash against GTA4's high scores have resulted in the game being underrated if anything, the hate it gets on here is ridiculous.
