Is there anyone else here who REALLY likes the 3DS's 3D?

A lot of people seem to trivualize it as a useless gimmick or just some minor feature but, for me, it's pretty much the coolest thing I've seen in a long time.

I've had a 3DS for about 6 months now and I simply love the 3D... for me it adds more immersion than the Vita's exceptional graphics and brilliant widescreen.

I realize that a lot of people disagree with me, but having spend a fair amount of time with the Vita, I can honestly say that I enjoy the 3DS's graphics more when the 3D effect is on than the Vita in all it's HD glory.

A side point - I've read some reviews / opinions that criticise the 3D for being useless but for me it's a simple matter of immersion. Ocarina of Time 3DS doesn't use the 3D in any meaningful way but the effect still adds a lot to the game for me. It makes everything feel a lot more real. It gives the world a sense of actual presence, rather than just bieng pixels on a screen.

I always play with the 3D on 100%. Though I only have Ocarina of Time 3D so far.

Only if the game uses it well, it looks amazing. My god those Paper Mario videos were jaw dropping.

Depends on how well its done. In SM3DL and MK 7 its amazing, in RE:R its annoying and makes everything really jaggy so I turn it off, and in tetris: axis it doesnt really change anything so i turn it off just to save battery. Like all things, it depends on the implementation.

I do have mixed feelings about Resident Evil's 3D, actually. Good points.

To me it is a gimmick. I usually play with 3D on for the first 30 minutes if any new game I buy just in case, but each time it doesn't add anything more than a gimmick to me.

Fair point. My budget will not allow me to experience PS3 or PC games in 3D yet. I don't even really know anyone who has such features, so I haven't experienced it yet. But I could see how this might be the case.

he is meaning the 3D effect, not the graphics as such. Also ps3 in 3D is just as gimmicky as 3DS in 3D.

Personally I like the 3D effect, being 17 though, I can't afford a 3DS but the few times i've used one I thought it was great. I love 3D in general tbh.

I think it's pretty cool. In my opinion it's the only thing that 3DS has going for it. I only like two games for it but i always play with 100% 3DS.

It hurts my eyes, and I can't look at the screen from different angles.

I play with 3D off. I think it's pretty lame.

I think it looks great and usually play with the 3D at 100%, some games it isn't necessary but I just find the image to be impressive when the game has a large amount of depth. As for RE Revelations, I wasn't as impressed at first until I changed the 3D setting in the game to the highest setting and it looks very impressive. The only issue is that it is a little more sensitive to ghosting, but I only really notice it when in a really dark area of the game.

Not really. Maybe I haven't bought a game that takes good advantage of the 3D effect yet.

I love it. It's awesome as eye candy in Star Fox, Ocarina, RE: Mercs. It's very helpful in SMM3D Land, Pushmo, Mutant Mudds, etc. I prefer to use it all the time as to not use it. It's the best experience I've ever had with 3D

I've only got Ocarina of Time at the moment and haven't got round to playing it. My first impression was that the 3D destroyed my eyes tbh, but then I stopped being a dick and took it off 100% 3D and optimised it properly...

Mii Plaza looks sweet in 3D :P

No, you're not the only one. I just don't think it improves the presentation enough to put up with its flaws (mainly the extremely specific viewing angle). A few things in 3D Land are cool uses of it, but that's a game designed to pimp the 3D.

Yes it is a gimmick on the ps3, it adds very little to the gameplay.

It makes some games look worse and at the very best it makes some games better and worse at the same time. Its not necessary.

Poll has too many options. Anyway I like the 3D, I have it on 99% of the time, some games use it better than others. It has gotten to the point where I can't really play without the 3D on, it looks low res and blurry, 3D is wider and crisp.

I used to be highly critical of 3D until I started playing on a 3DS, and now I actually like the technology when it is used properly. I always play my games in 3D with the 3D Effect at 100%, and I think it looks amazing with most games.

In Starfox 64, there was this one point in Meteos, trying to fly through a circle of four rocks, with another rock just past them, so you'd have to swerve quickly. I hit that damn rock every single time. In 3D, I could actually see where the rock was in relation to the ring, I could dodge it easily. One way to see just how much difference 3D makes, take a look at the clockwork background for Nintendo 3DS Sound. The difference between the two in 2D and 3D is striking.

In a game like MK7 it just helps it look cooler, in a game like SM3DL it makes the game play cooler.

Ya dig?

I have on 100% all the time (granted I only have SM3D Land, and the 3 available demos on the E-Store). Although imo the 3D does not add much to the gameplay in most cases (like RE:R, MGS3), it does look great. It makes the game look significantly better with 3D, especially since 3DS games in 2D look pretty bad imo (for todays standards)
