Is there ONE game that made you buy a console?

I thought I was imune to this. I never bought a console for just one game alone as I always thought that was stupid. But now I'm feeling like an hypocrite with Bayonetta 2. Its seriously taunting me. Passing through a store and seeing a pack with Bayo 1 and 2 only for $60 and me not having the console to play it is seriously screwing my head.

What about u. Is/was there a time when you bought a console just for one game and one game alone? A game series does not count, cause thats more than one

The game made me buy a Playstation in its first week was Tekken and the reason i wanted a Genesis console was Street Fighter 2 ( i had in back of my mind Sonic also ).

After those generations i never bought a console for a single game .

Well, I knew they had lots of good stuff, but MGS4 was the tipping point to get me to buy a PS3.

Medal of Honor Underground made me purchase my PS1, MOH Frontline made me purchase PS2, GOW made me purchase X360, I really don't think any game in particular made me purchase PS3.

Nope. Paying hundreds for a single game has always been nuts for me.

I always buy consoles just for one game. And it always works out since plenty of other games I want will eventually follow.

The only exception to this for me was the SNES, by the time I got one it already had a shit ton of games I wanted.

No. It's always been multiple games until one game comes out that I really have to have. I'm a "dam bursting" shopper rather than sheer impulse buyer.

Halo3 made me buy a 360.

I've never purchased a console within the first year or so. By the time I do decide to get one, there are a lot of games. So....no..never bought a console for 1 game. However, if you bought a Wii U for Bayonetta 2 there is nothing to be ashamed of. There are a few games out now you could enjoy. MK, Smash, Bayonetta, and uhhhhh. Well that should be enough.

AVP and Iron Soldier made me buy an Atari Jaguar.

Sonic Adventure made me ask my parents to buy me a Dreamcast.

Well, I have all the systems, but Persona 5 and/or Valkyria Chronicles is a system seller for me. I'd buy a console just to play those games if I had to.

Last time was a SNES for Super Mario World. I've been pretty tempted to get an Xbone for Sunset Overdrive (and the deals), but I held out.

I bought a ps1 for FF7. I also bought a N64 for OoT. I also bought a GCN for the Zelda Collection and I bought a Wii for Wii Sports.

Almost everyone who bought a Wii bought it for that game.

Yeah, i bought an original Xbox just for Panzer Dragoon Orta. After i completed the other Panzer Dragoon games on my Sega Saturn, i just had to play Orta aswell.

Gears of War was the main reason I bought the 360! Of course there have been other exclusives I grown to love, but gears is the game that I like the most.

Yes. I bought an Xbox One for Halo MCC and I'm glad I did it's fantastic.

Gamecube - Resident Evil 4

I got the PS3 just to play Uncharted 2. It was worth it, especially after all the other excellent games I got to play, Demon's Souls and Journey for example. Couldn't think of any reason to buy the 360 though.

I've never bought a console for just ONE game, there's always been more to interest me. There have, however, been games that just pushed me over the edge entirely and made me buy a console that moment because ermahgerd that game.

Wind Waker for GC

Twilight Princess for Wii (even though it was a launch title, it was the game)

Assassin's Creed for ps3 (at the time it looked really awesome and next-gen-ly)

lastly MK8 for the Wii U. all the trailers and then the reviews made it look so fun and great I finally gave in and got it in July (though like I said, there's more that interests me. E3 convinced me the Wii U would be a great investment).

I bought a PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4, didn't regreat at all...even if MGS4 wasn't that good.

But one game that influence your decision towards a console that you already see potential in its future, then yes, that's absolutely reasonable.

I got PS2 back in the day for Gran Turismo 3, but I knew that PS2 had a lot of interesting games coming out for it when I did that.

Bought a PS3 for MGS4. I feel like that was the number 1 reason to buy a PS3 in 2008.

After beating The Last of Us on ps3, I bought a Ps4 remaster bundle and beat it twice on grounded and grounded+ difficulty

I actually bought Fire Emblem Awakening before I bought a 3DS.

I got a Wii for Metroid Prime 3 (good but disappointing game).

Got a PSP for FFT.

Got a PS3 for GTAV (meh).

I bought a PS2 once FFX came out, it was what closed the deal for me. Metroid Prime closed the deal for a GameCube. The GameCube is the only consol that I ever bought a few months after the release, normally I'm more prone to buy in the 2nd or 3rd year if at all.

I bought a PS2 for God of War. Between my Dreamcast, GameCube, and Xbox, I was able to play every game I wanted that gen until God of War came out near the end and I had to buy a PS2 for it.

Final Fantasy 7. Saw my cousin playing it and I had to have it. Was a Saturn only owner then.

Killer Instinct, believe it or not, was my deciding factor in getting an Xbone. That, and Gears of War, whenever that comes out.

as in buying a console knowing that i would only buy one game for it? no.

some games carry a lot of weight with my purchasing decisions though. e.g. when X for the wiiu was announced i knew i was going to be a wiiu owner. the question was just when. i always planned to get other games for it also but i knew i was going to be a wii u owner on or before the release of X.

I buy consoles for 1 game all the time. I obviously get more games down the line, but there's always that 1 game that makes me want the system.

I picked up NES for Super Mario Bros.

For SNES, Super Mario World convinced me to buy it.

For Genesis, I needed to have it even though I already had SNES because the Gen version had blood in Mortal Kombat.

I got a PS1 primarily for FFVII and to a lesser extent, Metal Gear Solid.

I picked up N64 after having seen Turok: Dinosaur Hunter at a friend's house and I was completely blown away. I HAD to have it.

I got the Dreamcast because of the stellar SoulCalibur reviews.

I picked up PS2 for Tekken Tag Tournament.

I picked up Xbox for Halo: Combat Evolved.

I got a GameCube for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2 and Melee came out 1 month later which was icing on the cake.

I got the Wii hands down for Super Mario Galaxy. When I saw the reviews, I called every store in my area and tracked one down.

I got the PS3 for a future game, MGS4.

I got the 360 for Halo Reach.

I got the PS4 for future games, mainly Uncharted 4.

I got the Vita for Mortal Kombat.

I got the 3DS for Mario Kart 7.

I got the Game Boy for Tetris.

I got the GBA for Golden Sun.

I got the DS for Super Mario 64 DS.

I got the PSP for GTA Liberty City Stories.

I got my first gaming PC for Counter Strike and Battlefield 1942.
