Is this generation the best for RPGs ever? Which one is the best?

Which RPG is the best in this fantastic generation of them?

Also, help me out with my next one! :P (I have ME1 and 2 and Oblivion for my RROD 360, and DA:O and DA2 for my PS3) If you could please, add the games to the bracket! 1. 2. 3. 4.

My favorite there is Fallout 3. I also like Skyrim and Xenoblade a lot.

This gen is NOT the best for RPGs ever. Go play Mother 3.

Also, skip FO3 and play NV first.

Strange seeing a "best of the gen" RPG list that doesnt have a Square title in it. I understand, but damn how the mighty have fallen.

The Souls games have been my favorites.

And the best gen for rpgs ever? I can see why some would feel that way, but for me the golden age was SNES -PS1.

Derp, I really need to stop skimming over the OP and actually read them through. I've been bad about that lately.

Still, I say the Souls games. Skyrim is nice too. TW2 is a great game, but do NOT fall for the mega hype. Its absolutely worth playing, I'd even say its a must play for rpg fans, but people on this board went overboard with the hype for some reason. Even by SW standards it was just too much.

This generation may be one of the best for RPGs only if you add handhelds to the equation, which you didn't, thus, this thread fails.

this gen as been the best for shooters and that's it.

Wow I've only played one of these games, been too busy playing older games.

For WRPGs? Sure. It's the only time they haven't been mainly PC exclusive.

For JRPGs? No. That prize goes to the snes.

Are you serious? I mean really, this gen?

I mean, sure, we had Xenoblade, Skyrimm Demon's Souls, Dark Soul and all that, but that doesn't change the fact the this generation produced some piss-poor quality before we got these RPGs.
The best gen? A toss up between SNES' generation or PSX's generation.

As for the best this generation... I'm going to say Xenoblade with Demon's Souls a CLOSE second, followed by Skyrim in a distant third.

For a WRPG fan like me, yes, by far.

For consoles? It's been mediocore at best unless you exclusively play WRPG's then it's been pretty good.

Handhelds? Definitely the best generation yet. The PSP & DS have crushed every other handheld generation in RPGs.

This is one of the worst gens for RPGs imo.

But my top 5 would be (no remakes)

1. The Witcher
2. Mount&Blade: Warband
3. Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer
4. Valkyria Chronicles
5. The Last Story
