Is this the best handheld game ever?

Do you guys think Pokemon Diamond has achieved the title of "greatest handheld game to this date" or do you prefer another handheld game that you've played in the past?

I know how highly anticipated this game was and it's sold like crazy with most fans saying the game is great, online being an excellent addition to the series. Most of you guys got it in April so you've had a lot of time to play it and see whether or not it is the greatest Pokemon game to date, and possibly the greatest handheld game to date?

I got in June (Australian release), am about half through, and think it's awesome, but wouldn't call it the greatest handheld game ever yet though.

What about you guys? Is Pokemon Diamond the greatest handheld game ever? If not, what is the best? What do you guys think?

Is this a joke thread? Seriously, I have the game, and if you've played it, you never would have thought to even create this topic. It's not even in the top 10 greatest handheld games of all time. Good, but not great. The originals were better.Miyomatic

How are the originals better? I think they've improved pretty much everything in the latest versions, plus the online being in there is a great addition. I haven't beat the game yet though, but I do think it's better than the other versions thus far.

It's certainly a great addition and better than Sapphire/Ruby. I think it's the best in the series right now for the addition of online, some better balance on older pokemon (more evolutions) and overall, the gameplay is still enjoyable.

I think for "best handheld game ever" though maybe not. I still loved Gold/Silver more. :P

So agreed, I played all the Poke'mon games *except Ruby and Sapphire* and Diamon is sheer Poke'mon perfection. However I think Phoenix Wright wins this title. :)

Metal gear was awesome. But I wouldn't call it the best 'handheld' game. Well I guess it was becuase it was kinda annoying to play on the Go. You would have to st down for atleast an hour to play it.

Syphon filter was a better 'handheld' game though I have to admit!

On topic: Pokemon D/P are great, but not the best handheld games. They can be played for months until you get bored of trying to collect 'em all or building a battle team.

I loved Silver too, but I dunno, this one just seems to have everthing I like about Pokemon all bundled into one. The only thing is that they should shake up the gameplay a bit, and I don't really like the starter pokemon.

Besides that though, it's been well worth the wait.

If you were 12 years old back when I was that age, the answer would easily be Zelda : Link's Awakening. Let me tell you, that was about as epic as it got for a handheld game back in those days.

TO : Knights of Lodis was a great game too. But at the moment, MGS : Portable Ops is amazing. Really amazing. It's a completely fresh game with some sweet gameplay elements. But the big handheld battle is coming. Z: PH versus GoW: CoO. My money is on God of War.

After realising that I played my GBA at home way more than outside, I questioned why would I get another handheld. This is the answer and my wallet is saddened.

Best Pokemon to date?i guess, although it doesnt really add much to the series (Silver/Gold are still the best imo)

Best handheld game ever? Nope, don't think so. Mario Kart/AWDS/EBA/JumpUltimate Stars> Pokemon

It's got tough competition. Oracle of Ages, *ahem* TETRIS, the Fire Emblems, and my pick for best handheld game, Kirby: Canvas Curse.

Oh, and Gold/Silver and Red/Blue, of course.

Final Fantasy Legend was a great series. Even if it was in that creamed spinach color.

This was when 'epic' handheld games began.

I liked this game it kept me busy for a while but best handheld game of all time that goes a bit to far. For the most part it was a very good legthy game that keeps you busy for a while, but it gets boring if you play it for a very long time (i got bored after about 75 hours). Also another thing i noticed was the pokemon in wild grass were pretty much all the same, but at higher levels through out the entire game. Even when you get the national pokedex, itvery hard to find non-shinnoh dex pokemon, so there is barely any variety in the wild grass. The only time i saw tons of different pokemon was resort area. If they make the pokemon easier to find instead of finding 100 starly, bidoof, kricktune, buziel, and geodude in every route, and give you more stuff do due like visit more regions as in gold/silver i think it would be alot better. Its a good game but the older games were better and lasted longer for me (ruby/sapphire lasted me 210 hours). hopefully when the special eddition for d/p comes out it will improve d/p.

Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's the best.

Unfortunately it's not out yet, but we all know the title will go to....

That's just stupid. You can't say that until it's actually out! How the hell can you have a legitimate and unbiased critique of a game that hasn't even been released yet? The demo isn't even out! What are you basing this on?!?! A handful of stills and a couple videos? The PS2 GoW games? That's no guarantee the PSP GoW will be worth a crap.

I know nobody has ever even heard of this game.....

But my fav handheld game so far is Field Commander......and i have Nintendo DS and PSP.....in case you have no clue what Field Commander is, its Advance Wars for the PSP

But my favorite overall games....are the Super Mario Bros series
